Field Support Technician

IT Field Support Technician - 2 year contract Location: Pleasanton, CA, with heavy travel throughout Northern California Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Work Arrangement: Partially remote, but primarily field-based depending on facility maintenance needs Travel: 75% or more throughout Northern California, typically 3 to 4 days per week Openings: 1 Pay Rate: $35 - $43 Education: Bachelor’s degree required Experience: 1 to 2 years of IT or technical support experience Motor Vehicle Check: Required Certification: None required Role Overview This person will travel between hospitals and medical office buildings throughout Northern California to maintain and repair asset tracking and environmental monitoring equipment. The role is highly independent and requires someone who can manage their schedule, troubleshoot technical issues, and work professionally with employees at different facilities. Most work will take place in back-office, equipment storage, and operational areas. The worker may occasionally be near patient areas, but patient interaction should be limited. Primary Responsibilities Replace, maintain, and troubleshoot asset tracking tags Perform technical repairs on devices that are not functioning correctly Use WarePoint to monitor refrigeration and cooler temperatures Support environmental monitoring systems used for temperature and SOX compliance Support real-time location system (RTLS) technologies Travel to different facilities based on maintenance needs Complete other technical support work as needed Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree 1 to 2 years of IT, desktop support, field services, hardware support, or related technical experience Basic understanding of computers and networking concepts Ability to troubleshoot and repair technical devices Strong customer service and communication skills Ability to learn new healthcare technologies and systems Valid driving capability and willingness to complete a motor vehicle check Ability to travel throughout Northern California 75% or more Self-starter who can work independently in a flexible environment Preferred Experience Asset tracking or RTLS technology Environmental or temperature monitoring systems Healthcare technology or hospital IT environments Refrigeration or cooler monitoring WarePoint Field service work across multiple facilities Ideal Candidate The best candidate will be a hands-on, customer-friendly IT professional who enjoys field work and troubleshooting. They should be comfortable driving to different facilities several days per week, working independently, learning new systems, and interacting professionally with personnel.
