Summary: The Systems Administrator is responsible for supporting the daily operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Rails' IT infrastructure, end-user systems, and core business applications. This role provides hands-on support for Windows and macOS devices, assists with administration of the on-premises Active Directory environment and domain controller, supports the UniFi network, and helps maintain key business platforms including NetSuite, Celigo, Shopify, and custom internal applications. This position is ideal for a technically capable, service-oriented professional who enjoys solving problems, improving systems, and supporting employees across a growing organization. The successful candidate will be organized, dependable, and eager to expand their skills across systems administration, networking, SaaS platforms, and IT operations. The Systems Administrator reports to the IT Director. Responsibilities: End-User Support and Endpoint Administration Provide day-to-day technical support for employees using Windows and macOS devices, including setup, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and upgrades. Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, printer, peripheral, and connectivity issues with a focus on minimizing downtime. Perform user onboarding and offboarding, including workstation provisioning, account setup, access changes, and equipment recovery. Maintain endpoint health by ensuring operating systems, applications, patches, antivirus, and security settings remain current and compliant. Document standard support procedures, system configurations, and common troubleshooting steps. Systems Administration and Identity Management Assist with administration and maintenance of the on-premises Active Directory environment and Domain Controller . Create, modify, disable, and audit user accounts, security groups, permissions, and organizational units in accordance with company policies. Support domain-joined systems, login issues, password resets, account lockouts, Group Policy changes, and shared resource access. Help maintain directory services, access controls, and authentication-related processes to support operational security and reliability. Assist with backup, maintenance, and general health monitoring of core infrastructure systems. Network and Infrastructure Support Support and maintain the company’s UniFi Network environment, including access points, switches, gateways, and related network hardware. Monitor network performance and help troubleshoot connectivity issues, Wi-Fi coverage, latency, VPN access, and device configuration problems. Assist in maintaining secure and reliable office network operations through updates, access controls, documentation, and adherence to IT best practices. Support shared office technology, printers, file access, and other essential IT services. Business Systems and Application Support Provide first-line support for business-critical platforms, including NetSuite , Celigo , Shopify , and custom internal applications. Troubleshoot user access, workflow issues, integration errors, and data synchronization problems; escalate complex issues when appropriate. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify root causes, support business processes, and improve system usability. Assist with software rollouts, system updates, testing, and implementation of new features or process improvements. Maintain application access, user roles, permissions, and supporting documentation. Asset, Access, and IT Operations Track and manage IT assets, including laptops, accessories, software licenses, and related equipment. Maintain accurate records of hardware inventory, software usage, assigned devices, and user accounts. Support IT policy enforcement, security standards, and acceptable use practices across the organization. Coordinate with external vendors and service providers for hardware, software, networking, and other technology services. Projects and Continuous Improvement Assist with IT and business systems projects such as workstation refreshes, network improvements, software implementations, office technology upgrades, and automation initiatives. Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, security, user experience, and support efficiency. Stay current with emerging tools, best practices, and technology trends relevant to systems administration and business application support. Qualifications: 1–3 years of experience in IT support, help desk, systems administration, or a related technical role. Strong working knowledge of Windows and macOS support and administration. Hands-on familiarity with Active Directory , domain-joined environments, user/group management, and basic Domain Controller support. Experience with UniFi Network administration or similar small-to-mid-sized business networking environments. Experience supporting or administering SaaS and business systems such as NetSuite , Shopify , Celigo , or similar platforms is strongly preferred. Ability to troubleshoot across endpoint, application, identity, and network issues. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and documentation habits. Clear communication skills and a professional, customer-service-oriented approach. Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, or similar credentials are a plus. Working Conditions: Office-based role with occasional need to respond outside standard business hours for urgent issues or scheduled maintenance. Some physical activity may be required, including setting up workstations and moving IT equipment.
