Job Description: A Data Centre Technician installs, maintains, and repairs hardware and infrastructure within a data centre environment. They ensure servers, networking equipment, and power/cooling systems operate efficiently with minimal downtime. Key Responsibilities: Install, configure, and maintain servers, racks, and network equipment Perform hardware upgrades, replacements, and troubleshooting Monitor system performance and respond to alerts or outages Manage cabling (fibre and copper), labelling, and organisation Support power and cooling systems (UPS, PDUs, HVAC coordination) Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance Document work, inventory, and incidents accurately Assist in data centre moves, adds, and changes (MAC work) Follow security procedures and access controls Collaborate with network engineers, system admins, and IT teams Required Skills & Qualifications: Basic knowledge of servers, networking, and operating systems Understanding of data centre infrastructure (power, cooling, racks) Experience with hardware troubleshooting and diagnostics Familiarity with cabling standards and tools Ability to read technical manuals and diagrams Strong attention to detail and organisational skills Physical ability to lift equipment and work in server environments Preferred Qualifications: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field Certifications such as: CompTIA A+ / Network+ Cisco CCNA Data Centre certifications (CDCTP, etc.) Experience with ticketing systems and monitoring tools.
