Job Title: Senior Data Engineer (W2 role) Location: Remote – Continental USA Employment Type: Contract Duration: 18 Months About the Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to design, develop, and support scalable enterprise data solutions across cloud and on-premises environments. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in Azure data platforms, ETL/ELT, SQL, Power BI, Python, financial analytics, healthcare provider network analysis, ArcGIS, and API-driven integrations . This role requires a senior technical lead who can take ownership of data architecture and pipelines from design and development through testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support. Key Responsibilities Lead the architecture, development, testing, deployment, and support of scalable and fault-tolerant enterprise data solutions. Design and maintain dimensional data models supporting data warehouses, data marts, and enterprise analytics . Build and monitor ETL/ELT pipelines using Microsoft SQL Server SSIS and Azure Data Factory . Develop data pipelines supporting both scheduled and near-real-time data movement between on-premises and cloud environments. Design and support data solutions using Azure SQL, SQL Managed Instance, Azure Synapse, and/or Microsoft Fabric . Develop complex SQL scripts for data transformation, processing, and analytics. Create and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports for business and analytical use cases. Develop data engineering solutions incorporating Python . Design and support financial data analysis solutions . Develop and support Healthcare Provider Network Adequacy analysis solutions . Design, manage, and optimize data systems within the ArcGIS environment. Use ArcGIS tools and Power BI to explore, clean, prepare, and analyze data for mapping and visualization. Develop API-driven bulk data integrations using Azure API Management . Ensure data solutions are scalable, reliable, fault-tolerant, and support enterprise decision-making. Monitor production pipelines and troubleshoot data processing, integration, and performance issues. Collaborate with business, technical, and data stakeholders throughout the solution lifecycle. Mandatory Skills & Qualifications Minimum 10+ years of overall experience as a Data Engineer . 5+ years of experience as a Senior Data Engineer in a lead capacity. 4+ years of experience designing and developing ETL/ELT solutions using SSIS and Azure Data Factory . 5+ years of experience with Azure SQL, SQL MI, Azure Synapse, and/or Microsoft Fabric . 5+ years of experience developing solutions using SQL scripting . 3+ years of experience developing Power BI dashboards and reports . 3+ years of experience developing solutions incorporating Python . 3+ years of experience developing financial data analysis solutions . 3+ years of experience developing Healthcare Provider Network Adequacy analysis solutions . 2+ years of experience as an ArcGIS Data Engineer , including designing, managing, and optimizing ArcGIS-based data systems. 3+ years of experience developing API-driven bulk data integrations using Azure API Management . Strong experience with data warehouse/data mart architecture and dimensional data modeling. Education Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or another technology-related field . Equivalent qualifying experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. A completed data engineering bootcamp plus one additional year of experience may also be considered as an alternative to the degree requirement. Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
