Location: St. Louis Remote: Remote Type: Contract Job #47101 Technology Partners is currently seeking a talented Engineer 2, DBA. Do you have experience supporting Oracle and PostgreSQL databases in both on-prem and cloud environments, with strong SQL skills and experience in database performance monitoring? Let us help you make your next big career move a reality! What You Will Be Doing As an Engine 2, DBA within the platform and infrastructure team, you will play a vital role in maintaining and supporting our critical database environments. You will collaborate closely with application development teams to ensure database health, troubleshoot issues, and implement changes safely across both on-premises and cloud platforms. You will manage database scripts, review change requests, and support deployment cycles, ensuring operational efficiency and data security. The role offers an excellent opportunity to partner with various internal teams while focusing on database reliability, security, and performance. Key Responsibilities Implement approved Data Definition Language (DDL) and Data Manipulation Language (DML) changes in production and non-production environments. Manage and commit database scripts in Bitbucket, supporting release and change management processes. Review and approve application-driven database changes to ensure they meet performance, security, and recoverability standards. Analyze SQL queries for correctness, efficiency, and safety to optimize database performance. Monitor database health, performance, and capacity, and take preventive or corrective actions as needed. Support application teams with troubleshooting database issues. Assist with database patching, upgrades, and routine maintenance activities. Support backup, recovery, and restore validation procedures to ensure data integrity. Manage user access and uphold data security practices, including handling PII and customer data redaction requests. Participate in on-call support rotations, providing light after-hours support when required. Required Skills & Experience 3+ years of experience administering databases in a production environment, with strong expertise in Oracle or PostgreSQL. Proven ability to safeguard confidential and sensitive database content. Strong SQL skills, including writing complex queries and reviewing scripts for efficiency and correctness. Experience supporting application development teams with troubleshooting, release coordination, and change review. Knowledge of backup, recovery, and restore processes relevant to Oracle/PostgreSQL databases. Experience with database user management, access control, and security best practices. Familiarity with database monitoring and performance analysis tools. Proficiency with version control systems such as Git or Bitbucket for managing database changes. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship and reside in the United States (excluding Alaska and Hawaii). Ability to work during U.S. Central Standard Time core hours. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred. Desired Skills & Experience Experience with cloud-managed database services such as AWS RDS or Aurora. Knowledge of PL/SQL or PL/pgSQL stored procedures and functions. Practical experience with Oracle tools like OEM, RMAN, and Data Guard. Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform. Experience working in a Unix command line environment and scripting languages like Shell, Python, or Perl. Understanding of Agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA and Confluence. Knowledge of data governance and security standards, including PCI compliance.
