About the Role; As a Network Technician, your primary goal is to help lead and guide Mountaineer IT clients, using our best practices as your foundation. You'll lead the charge on workstation, networking, and server deployments; act as a hands-on system administrator for client environments; help shape IT planning and technology direction; and represent Mountaineer IT during onsite client visits across Siskiyou County. Desired Skills and Qualities • Effective communication and client interaction skills. • Eagerness to learn and adapt, with guidance from fellow techs. • Team player, receptive to direction. • Proactive problem-solving mindset. • Basic cable running experience is a plus, though not required. Duties Include • Lead installation, configuration, and deployment of workstations, networks, and servers for clients. • Provide client leadership, guidance, and technology planning as a trusted advisor. • Serve as system administrator for client environments — monitoring, maintaining, and supporting their systems. • Install and configure computer hardware, software, networks, printers, and scanners. • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, both in-person and remotely. • Conduct onsite visits to client locations across Siskiyou County as needed. • Respond promptly to tickets and calls. • Update client documentation as needed. • Log time entries into tickets with detailed notes. • Adhere to and uphold quality procedures and measures. • Mentor and guide junior technicians. • Contribute to the establishment of best practices. • Perform basic cable runs when a project calls for it. Requirements • Comprehensive knowledge of system networks, VLANs, switching, and routing. • Expertise in servers and domain setups. • Basic familiarity with IT security best practices (HIPAA/NIST/WISP). • Commitment to a 40-hour workweek, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (Monday–Friday), including occasional weekends and after-hours. • Valid CA driver's license, reliable vehicle, and a clean driving record. • Capability to lift over 50 lbs safely. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Proven troubleshooting and critical thinking capabilities. • Ambition for personal and professional growth. • Must pass drug and background checks. Compensation & Benefits • Pay: $48,000–$58,000/year, depending on experience. • Full-time position. • 3% match on SIMPLE IRA retirement plan. • 100% employer-paid vision and dental coverage. • 50% employer-paid medical coverage. • Paid continuing education.
