Role Description The Senior Data Architect is a full-time, on-site role based in San Diego, CA, responsible for leading the design and governance of Sharp HealthCare’s enterprise data architecture. This role designs and maintains data models, data warehouses, and integration patterns to support clinical, operational, and strategic analytics across the health system. The Senior Data Architect collaborates with IT, analytics teams, and business stakeholders to translate organizational needs into scalable data solutions, ensuring data quality, security, and regulatory compliance. Day-to-day work includes defining data standards, optimizing data pipelines, reviewing solution designs, and guiding the implementation of data platforms and tools. The role also mentors technical team members, evaluates new data technologies, and contributes to long-term data strategy and roadmap planning. Qualifications Demonstrated expertise in data architecture and modeling, including conceptual, logical, and physical data models for enterprise environments using Snowflake and other modern cloud architecture. Experience designing and optimizing data warehouses, data lakes, and ETL/ELT pipelines in support of analytics and reporting. Strong skills in SQL and relational databases; CI/CD pipelines, real-time data streaming, NLP and LLM experience Understanding of healthcare data standards and regulations (e.g., HIPAA, clinical and claims data structures) is preferred. Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical partners, and lead architectural discussions. Experience mentoring engineers or analysts and providing technical leadership on large data initiatives. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., data architecture, cloud) are a plus. Ability to work on-site in San Diego, CA and support a mission-driven, patient-focused health care environment.
