System Administrator Houston, TX Office Full Time, Permanent Position Overview Our client, a venture capital and investment firm firm is seeking a hands-on System Administrator to join its in-house technology team. In this role, you will work on all things IT infrastructure while operating as a true IT generalist across systems, networking, cloud technologies, security, endpoints, and day-to-day user support. Key Responsibilities • Manage and support day-to-day technology operations across Windows systems, endpoints, servers, networking, cloud services, and security tools • Administer Microsoft 365 and Intune while assisting with device management, user access, configurations, and related support needs • Provide hands-on technical support to employees, resolving issues involving hardware, software, applications, connectivity, and end-user systems • Monitor and maintain Windows desktop and server environments, addressing performance, access, and system-related issues as they arise • Support network infrastructure, including firewalls, connectivity, and related technologies across the organization • Assist with the continued evolution of the firm's cloud environment and support the adoption of additional cloud-based technologies • Contribute to infrastructure upgrades, system migrations, technology implementations, and other IT improvement initiatives • Partner with outside vendors, managed service providers, and other technology resources to resolve issues and support ongoing projects • Help strengthen the firm's overall security posture by supporting security tools, controls, and technology-related initiatives • Investigate technical problems, determine root causes, and drive issues through resolution with a practical, solutions-oriented approach • Maintain accurate technical documentation and help refine internal IT processes, procedures, and standards • Support a broad range of systems administration needs while gradually taking on additional responsibility across infrastructure, security, networking, and cloud technologies Qualifications • 3-6+ years of experience working in systems administration, infrastructure support, IT operations, technical support, or a related hands-on technology role • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Intune, Windows environments, servers, networking, endpoint technologies, firewalls, cloud platforms, and IT security • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work through technical issues in a structured and thoughtful manner • Broad interest in infrastructure technology with the flexibility to work across different systems and technical disciplines • Comfortable operating in a smaller, collaborative IT environment where responsibilities may span multiple areas • Strong communication skills and the ability to provide professional, effective support to technical and non-technical users • Organized, dependable, and able to manage both immediate support requests and longer-term technology projects • Curious and adaptable with a strong desire to continue learning new technologies and expand technical responsibilities over time
