We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer with a strong focus on AI systems to join our team. This role centers on designing, building, and maintaining AI-driven services and agentic workflows, with hands-on Anthropic SDK/API experience as a core requirement. The ideal candidate blends prompt engineering skill, comfort building and debugging agentic loops, and solid full-stack fundamentals (Python, TypeScript/React, SQL). This person should think about both software-engineering discipline and AI-system behavior: testing, scaling, and securing AI-backed applications the same way any production system would be. Key Responsibilities: Design, build, deploy web applications, AI-driven services and agentic pipelines (tool-use loops, multi-step agents, orchestration) Build and maintain integrations with Anthropic API/SDK (Claude models, tool use, prompt caching, streaming) Write, iterate, and evaluate prompts for reliability, safety, and cost efficiency Develop RESTful APIs (Python) and React/TypeScript front ends around AI features Own DevOps for AI services: CI/CD, containerization (Docker), cloud deploy (AWS/Azure), monitoring/observability for agent runs Write optimized SQL against relational DBs Design automated test frameworks for both deterministic code and non-deterministic AI outputs (eval harnesses, regression suites) Collaborate cross-functional with teams and translate business needs into AI-backed technical solutions Maintain technical docs (architecture, prompt design decisions, agent behavior/limits) Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in computer science, related field, or equivalent experience. 2+ years of professional software engineering experience 2+ years of experience working with Python and Flask or Django Must-have: Hands on experience with Anthropic SDK/API and Claude Console Proficiency with Git Strong experience with RESTful API development Hands-on experience with SQL and relational databases (e.g., MySQL, MSSQL, Postgres) Comfortable building and debugging agentic loops (tool-call cycles, multi-turn agents, error recovery, self-verification patterns) Judgment to scope an AI solution appropriately — knows when multi-agent orchestration is overkill versus warranted Some DevOps exposure: Docker, CI/CD, cloud platforms like AWS or Azure Proficiency with Git Familiarity with testing libraries (pytest, jest); LLM eval framework experience a plus Strong debugging skills for complex, partially non-deterministic systems Excellent communication skills: ability to explain AI behavior, limits, and tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders Stays current with the broader AI landscape — local/open-source models, emerging tooling, and alternatives to hosted APIs — and can speak to tradeoffs (cost, latency, privacy, quality) between running a model locally versus calling a hosted API The annual salary for this position is $135,000–$150,000. This position offers eligibility for incentive compensation. Mutual of Omaha Mortgage is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and we encourage diverse, talented, qualified applicants to apply. We offer an extensive compensation package. Benefits include: Vacation — Vacation hours accrue on a per pay period basis. Balance maximums are based on years of service. That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
