About the Role We are looking for a Payroll Analyst to support accurate, timely payroll processing for our US multi-state and Canadian employee population. In this individual contributor role, you will process payroll, help resolve routine discrepancies, and partner with HR and Finance to keep payroll operations accurate, compliant, and well documented as we grow. This role is based full-time in our Raleigh office. Key Responsibilities Payroll Operations Process bi-monthly payroll for US multi-state employees and Canada, ensuring accuracy and on-time delivery each cycle. Review payroll inputs — new hires, terminations, leaves of absence, and compensation changes — for accuracy prior to processing. Research and resolve routine payroll discrepancies, escalating complex issues to the Senior Accounting Manager as needed. Maintain payroll calendars and cut-off schedules, coordinating with Finance on funding timelines. Compliance & Regulatory Support Support payroll compliance with applicable federal, state, and local tax laws, labor regulations, and statutory filings. Help monitor regulatory changes and update payroll processes and documentation as directed. Assist with internal and external audits by providing requested payroll data and documentation. Maintain accurate payroll records and audit trails in line with company data retention requirements. HR & Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with HR Business Partners and People Operations to ensure accurate, timely payroll data for new hires, terminations, leaves of absence, and compensation changes. Support process improvement initiatives between HR and payroll systems. Respond to employee payroll inquiries and escalate policy questions as needed. Systems & Process Support Use ADP Workforce Now and/or Ceridian Dayforce to process and reconcile payroll. Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort and improve data accuracy. Follow and help maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for payroll processes. Prepare payroll reports and metrics as requested. Required Qualifications 2–3 years of multi-state US payroll experience; Canada payroll experience a plus. Experience processing payroll for an organization with a minimum of 300 employees. Working knowledge of multi-state payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements. Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now and/or Ceridian Dayforce. Understanding of payroll accounting principles and general ledger reconciliation. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in high-volume payroll processing. Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel for payroll data analysis and reconciliation. Preferred Qualifications Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification, or actively working toward one. Familiarity with HRIS platforms such as Workday, BambooHR, or similar.
