We’re looking for a world-class Software Engineer with 5+ years of strong, hands-on experience to join our team in Dubai. This is not a role for someone who simply knows frameworks. We want an engineer who understands software engineering deeply, thinks clearly, solves difficult problems, takes ownership, and can build reliable, maintainable systems. What we’re looking for 5+ years of serious, hands-on software engineering experience Exceptionally strong problem-solving and analytical ability Proactive and energetic, someone who sees an issue, investigates it, and fixes it properly Excellent software engineering fundamentals Strong understanding of system design, architecture, APIs, performance, scalability, testing, debugging, security, and clean code Able to work independently and make sound technical decisions Strong ownership mentality and a great attitude Comfortable working closely with the business and understanding real-world requirements Strong technical experience with JavaScript / TypeScript Node.js Next.js NestJS Python PostgreSQL MySQL REST APIs and modern backend architecture Database design, indexing, query optimization, and performance Git and professional development workflows Automated testing and production debugging Modern software development practices You should be technically curious and stay current with modern frameworks, tools, AI-assisted development, infrastructure, and emerging technologies. Some practical DevOps knowledge is a plus for example Docker, CI/CD, cloud deployments, Linux, monitoring, and troubleshooting production environments but this is fundamentally a software engineering role, not a DevOps position. AI is a tool and not a replacement for engineering ability We actively use AI and expect our engineers to know how to leverage it intelligently to move faster. However, you must have strong engineering fundamentals and be able to code, debug, architect, and solve problems without AI. We are not looking for someone who simply copies AI-generated code without understanding it. You should be able to challenge AI output, identify poor architecture, catch bugs, improve generated code, and recognize when a proposed solution is wrong. AI should amplify your engineering ability , not replace it. The person we want You’re smart, curious, active, resourceful, and technically strong. You don’t wait around when something is broken. You investigate it, understand the root cause, and fix it properly. You care about the quality, performance, reliability, and maintainability of what you build. You enjoy learning new technologies, but you understand that strong software engineering fundamentals matter more than simply knowing the latest framework. 📍 Location: Dubai, UAE 🏢 Work setup: Full-time, on-site in our Business Bay office ⚡ Availability: Ready to join immediately If you’re a genuinely strong software engineer who enjoys difficult problems, takes ownership, and understands the difference between writing code and engineering software, we’d like to hear from you.

144,883 engineer jobs are open right now

Here's how to pick the right one and stand out in your application.

144.883Jobs
31.687IN

That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.

Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.

Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.

When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
