Role Description The Head of Department at Malabar Central School is a full-time, on-site role based in Kondotti. The role involves overseeing the academic and administrative functions of a specific subject department, including curriculum planning, lesson coordination, and aligning teaching practices with school standards. The Head of Department will mentor and support teachers, monitor classroom effectiveness, and ensure assessments and evaluation processes are conducted fairly and consistently. Daily responsibilities include conducting departmental meetings, reviewing teaching materials, coordinating with school leadership, addressing student and caregiver concerns related to the department, and leading initiatives to improve learning outcomes. The role also entails maintaining compliance with school policies, organizing training or workshops for department staff, and contributing to broader school improvement plans. Qualifications Strong expertise in the relevant subject area and sound understanding of school-level curricula and assessment practices. Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with experience guiding and mentoring teaching staff. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills for working with educators, students, and caregivers. Organizational and planning abilities, including experience coordinating timetables, exams, and departmental activities. Commitment to inclusive, learner-centered education and familiarity with modern pedagogical methods and educational technologies. Prior experience in a supervisory or coordinator role within a school setting is highly beneficial. Relevant teaching qualifications and a bachelor’s or master’s degree in education or a related field preferred.
