About Laivly Seeking curious and creative types! We are an ambitious company of innovators building and shaping the future of customer service technology. Our solutions help the world’s biggest brands leverage artificial intelligence, machine learning, and digital automation in their contact centers to deliver better customer experiences. Led by a team of established contact center experts, Laivly addresses the unique needs and challenges of customer service programs, with an emphasis on ethics in AI and the customer service agent experience. About The Role The team at Laivly is looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to help design, operate, and continuously improve the cloud infrastructure behind our technology. As Senior Cloud Engineer, you’ll be a senior individual contributor focused on building secure, resilient, scalable, and cost-efficient AWS environments. You’ll combine deep hands-on cloud expertise with a reliability mindset, helping us strengthen our infrastructure, anticipate failure, improve observability, and turn operational challenges into lasting improvements. Working closely with our Architecture, IT Operations, Information Security, and Engineering teams, you’ll have the opportunity to influence how our cloud environment evolves as Laivly continues to scale. This position is remote and open to candidates within Canada. As Senior Cloud Engineer, you will… Cloud Infrastructure Design, operate, and evolve secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-efficient AWS environments, including compute, storage, databases, networking, identity, and shared cloud services. Build and improve infrastructure-as-code standards, reusable architectures, configuration baselines, account structures, tagging, and lifecycle practices. Lead cloud infrastructure migrations, modernization initiatives, and technical-debt reduction from planning through stable operation. Reliability & Resilience Strengthen cloud reliability through SLOs and SLIs, capacity planning, resilience testing, and proactive identification of infrastructure risks. Design and test backup, disaster recovery, and multi-AZ or multi-region strategies appropriate to business requirements. Identify systemic risks and drive improvements before they impact our customers or teams. Observability & Operational Excellence Build actionable observability across metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, alerts, and runbooks using Datadog and AWS-native services. Act as a senior escalation point for complex infrastructure incidents, helping coordinate recovery, identify root causes, and drive lasting corrective actions. Reduce operational toil through automation, tooling, clear procedures, and continuous improvements to detection, response, and recovery. Security, Governance & Cloud Optimization Partner with Security and Architecture to strengthen IAM, network segmentation, encryption, secrets management, vulnerability remediation, and cloud guardrails. Support cloud governance across accounts, policies, auditability, asset inventory, and compliance practices. Optimize cloud consumption and capacity through FinOps practices, forecasting, cost allocation, rightsizing, and Savings Plans. Technical Leadership & Collaboration Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, infrastructure standards, documentation, and mentorship. Partner with application and engineering teams on infrastructure readiness, safe operational changes, and reliability improvements. Translate business and engineering requirements into practical cloud solutions, clearly communicating risks, trade-offs, dependencies, and recommended investments. As Senior Cloud Engineer, you have… 5+ years of progressive hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure, cloud operations, systems engineering, or platform engineering, with significant hands-on experience operating production AWS environments. Strong AWS expertise across IAM, VPC networking, compute, storage, managed databases, load balancing, DNS, monitoring, and backup/disaster-recovery services. Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code, ideally Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation, including modular design, state management, code review, and policy guardrails. Experience applying reliability engineering practices, including SLOs/SLIs, error budgets, observability, incident command, root-cause analysis, post-incident learning, and resilience testing. Strong cloud networking and security knowledge, including DNS, routing, connectivity, security groups/firewalls, identity federation, encryption, secrets, and least-privilege access. Experience working with containers and Kubernetes/EKS, including cluster infrastructure, resource management, scaling, and troubleshooting. Proficiency in scripting or automation (for example Python, Bash, or PowerShell) and comfort using APIs and version control to manage infrastructure safely. Experience with cloud cost optimization and FinOps practices, including tagging, rightsizing, reservations/savings plans, cost allocation, and capacity forecasting. Strong systems-thinking and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts and trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences. An AWS certification such as Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, or Security Specialty is an asset. Life at Laivly Laivly gives you the opportunity to collaborate and grow your career with a creative, diverse, and passionate team. We work hard and play often, with a flexible environment that works with you. A career at Laivly means being part of a fun-loving, dedicated team of creatives, risk takers and game changers. Here's how to pick the right one and stand out in your application.

144.883Jobs

That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.

Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.

Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.

When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
