Oculus IT is seeking a Infrastructure Engineer to support a technology environment that powers teaching, learning, and administrative operations. This role is ideal for an IT professional with experience in Microsoft 365, VMware, Linux systems, and networking who is passionate about supporting a diverse academic community. You will work closely with IT staff to build and maintain reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure across campus systems, classrooms, and cloud platforms. This position offers growth into infrastructure leadership within a collaborative higher education environment. Key Responsibilities: · Administer and support Microsoft 365 services (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Azure AD) for faculty, staff, and students · Assist in managing VMware environments including resource management and migrations · Maintain and support Linux-based systems used for our file storage and ERP hosting · Monitor and troubleshoot campus network infrastructure, including wired/wireless networks, VPN, and firewall systems · Support identity and access management systems, including Active Directory and single sign-on (SSO) integrations · Assist with infrastructure projects such as system upgrades, cloud migrations, classroom technology enhancements, and research computing initiatives · Ensure compliance with institutional policies and applicable regulations (e.g., FERPA, data security standards) · Participate in backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning and testing · Provide Tier 2/3 support for infrastructure-related issues impacting campus users · Create and maintain technical documentation and knowledge base articles Required Qualifications: · 2–5 years of experience in systems administration or infrastructure support · Experience administering Microsoft 365 in an enterprise or educational environment · Hands-on experience with VMware virtualization technologies · Basic working knowledge of Linux systems (e.g., Ubuntu, Red Hat, CentOS) · Foundational networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, wireless networking) · Experience with Active Directory and identity management systems Preferred Qualifications: · Experience in a higher education or academic IT environment · Knowledge of Ellucian Banner or other educational ERP systems · Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and classroom technologies · Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Oracle Cloud · Scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash) · Working knowledge of Fortinet hardware and systems · Knowledge of compliance frameworks relevant to higher education (e.g., FERPA, GLBA, GDPR, HIPAA where applicable)
