As an Electrical Schematic Designer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining locomotive electrical schematics that support product performance, manufacturing, quality, and customer requirements. Working as part of a global engineering team, you will transform engineering requirements into accurate electrical circuit layouts and schematic documentation while supporting manufacturing and product improvement initiatives. Purpose of the Role Develop and maintain locomotive electrical schematics by translating engineering requirements into accurate circuit layouts and wiring documentation. This role works closely with engineers, electrical architects, and manufacturing teams to support product development, design changes, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring quality, accuracy, and on-time delivery. Detailed Responsibilities Develop and maintain locomotive electrical schematics, circuit layouts, and wiring documentation. Create and update electrical schematics based on engineering specifications, customer requirements, and established standards. Interpret engineering requirements and convert them into accurate schematic designs and documentation. Execute Design Change Requests (DCRs), Drafting Work Orders (DWOs), and electrical modifications. Support manufacturing teams by troubleshooting schematic-related issues and incorporating feedback into future designs. Collaborate closely with Engineers, Electrical Architects, Designers, and Manufacturing teams to ensure successful project execution. Participate in design reviews and provide technical recommendations and feedback. Clearly communicate design intent and technical information to internal and external stakeholders. Manage multiple priorities while meeting project milestones and demanding deadlines. Drive continuous improvement in schematic quality, development processes, and engineering practices. Education: Technical Diploma in Electrotechnics, Electrical Engineering, Automation, Electronics, or a related technical field (required). Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related Engineering discipline. Requirements: Experience in electrical schematic development, electrical drafting, or electrical design. Strong understanding of electrical circuits and schematic development practices. Ability to read, interpret, modify, and create electrical schematics. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under tight deadlines. Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with engineering documentation and design modifications. Language: Advanced English proficiency. Skills: Alignment with Our Values in Action (Caterpillar Code of Conduct). Effective verbal and written communication skills. Strong collaboration and stakeholder relationship-building skills. Demonstrated initiative, ownership, and accountability for results. Strong organizational and time management skills.
