This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Software Engineer (C++, Python) based in Brazil. This is a senior engineering opportunity focused on building and evolving high-performance, data-intensive software systems. You will contribute to a mission-critical platform that processes billions of records each day for financial institutions worldwide. The role combines hands-on development with architectural thinking, cloud technologies, testing, and production reliability. You will work primarily with C++ and Python while contributing across distributed systems, databases, deployment tooling, and monitoring. Collaboration spans engineering, product, and operations teams, giving you meaningful influence over both technical direction and product quality. The environment values engineering excellence, pragmatic problem-solving, automation, and continuous improvement. This role is well suited to an experienced engineer who enjoys complex technical challenges and thrives in a distributed team. Accountabilities Develop, maintain, and enhance complex, data-driven software components and systems using C++, Python, and other relevant technologies. Contribute to the evolution of a high-performance platform responsible for processing extremely large volumes of financial data. Evaluate technologies and architectural approaches and help shape scalable solutions, with particular emphasis on cloud architectures. Design and expand testing infrastructure while developing comprehensive automated tests to improve software quality and reliability. Partner with operations teams to investigate and resolve production issues, identifying opportunities to incorporate permanent improvements into the product. Build internal tools that improve deployment, administration, monitoring, and operational efficiency. Collaborate with product teams to understand, clarify, and refine technical requirements and feature specifications. Contribute to engineering standards, development practices, quality processes, release procedures, and deployment best practices. Evaluate when to integrate third-party technologies versus building solutions internally, making sound technical and architectural trade-offs. Participate in technical interviews and help assess candidates for engineering positions. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or another relevant technical discipline. 5+ years of experience solving complex engineering problems involving sophisticated, distributed, data-driven, and highly performant software applications. Strong programming skills in C++ and Python, with the ability to work effectively across multiple languages and technologies. Hands-on experience with AWS or other cloud technology platforms, with a solid understanding of how to leverage cloud architectures effectively. Experience improving software development, testing, quality, release, and deployment processes. Experience integrating third-party software systems as well as designing and developing components from the ground up. Strong knowledge of relational databases, SQL, and core relational database concepts. Proficiency with Linux and confidence working in shell environments. Ability to write effective shell scripts and command-line utilities while recognizing when a more robust solution is appropriate. Experience with Git or comparable source code management systems. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the judgment to evaluate alternative technical approaches. Excellent communication, organization, and task-management skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a distributed team. Comfortable working remotely and managing priorities with a high degree of autonomy. Benefits Competitive compensation package. Stock option offering. 401(k) plan with employer matching. Health, dental, vision, and disability insurance coverage. Health Savings Account (HSA) with employer contribution. Unlimited paid time off. Flexible approach to taking time off and managing personal time. That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
