Position Overview: Boeing India Defense team is currently looking for Senior Service Engineer P-8I to join their team in INS Rajali, Arakkonam, Tamil Nadu, India to provide dedicated Service engineering support for the P-8I fleet operated by the Indian Defense Forces. This role develops and maintains close relationships with the India customer, the applicable airworthiness and operational authorities, field service representatives, and Boeing design engineering to ensure collaborative, customer-focused knowledge sharing. The Service Engineer will be an integral member of the team ensuring safe and efficient P-8I operations in India. We are seeking a P8I Service Engineer to join our defense services team, holding service engineering background to be co-located at main operating bases. The Service Engineer coordinates engineering reach back support for field service inquiries to include Technical Request (TRs) responses, accident/incident investigations, and engineering studies. High level of aviation maintenance practices knowledge in respect of 737NG platforms or P8 and excellent communication skills are critical to maintaining a relationship with all stakeholders. This role is specifically focused on supporting the India P-8I customer and all responsibilities, communications, and deliverables will be aligned to that customer’s operational and regulatory requirements. Position Responsibilities: Coordinate and deliver engineering-backed responses to P-8I Technical Requests (TRs) raised by the India customer. Review technical data supplied by the India customer, on base FSRs, suppliers, and internal design engineering to troubleshoot defects and recommend airworthiness-compliant repair/maintenance actions. Review technical manuals, airworthiness documentation, maintenance history, safety messages, and product definition (standards, drawings, wiring diagrams, etc.) relevant to P-8I support in India. Provide engineering recommendations to program management focused exclusively on sustaining the P-8I fleet for the India customer. Develop holistic responses to technical requests using released engineering and design-approved solutions. Monitor failure and reliability trends for the India P-8I fleet; propose part or maintenance practice changes to improve supportability, sustainability, reliability, maintainability, and operability. Communicate technical information clearly to field service representatives, Boeing engineering teams, program management, and supply chain stakeholders supporting P-8I India operations. Identify and define risk mitigation plans and opportunities for fleet sustainment. Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement corrective/preventative actions to ensure safe and efficient fleet operations. Provide oversight and technical management for field engineering studies and repairs carried out in support of the India P-8I fleet. Coordinate responses to field messages and operational advisories. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): Bachelor’s degree in Engineering , Engineering Technology ( Including Electronics & Communication, Electrical & Electronics, Electrical , Mechanical, Information Technology ), Computer Science or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement. 8+ years of 737NG or P8 Field Service / Service Engineering experience. Expert knowledge of 737NG or P-8 platform technical fundamentals. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Interpret and understand technical manuals, airworthiness documentation, maintenance history, safety messages, and product definition (standards, drawings, wiring diagrams, etc.) relevant to P-8I support in India. Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/technology (preferably in Aeronautical / Aerospace/Mechanical/IT/Electrical or equivalent discipline) . 5+ years of aviation maintenance experience on P-8 platforms supporting in-country operations. Experience with Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and structured problem solving. Proven experience providing technical integration and coordination across engineering, program management, supply chain, and field teams. Prior experience supporting military or government aviation customers Experience working with MRB (Material Review Board) activities related to aircraft structures. Experience with airworthiness regulatory agencies (ie, FAA, EASA, DGCA) Experience in repair disposition of in-service aircraft Typical Education & Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 13 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+ 12 years' related work experience) Relocation: This position does offer relocation within INDIA.
