Human Resources Generalist Montana Silversmiths | Columbus, Montana Montana Silversmiths is looking for an experienced, dependable Human Resources Generalist to support our Director of Human Resources and provide day-to-day HR support across the organization. This is an exciting opportunity for a people-focused HR professional who enjoys working directly with employees and managers, supporting a wide range of HR functions, and helping create a positive and consistent employee experience. The ideal candidate will be practical, responsive, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with both production and office employees in a manufacturing environment. The Opportunity As a Human Resources Generalist, you will serve as an accessible resource for employees and managers while supporting recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, HR records, compliance, training, payroll processes, and other HR initiatives. You’ll work closely with the Director of Human Resources to help ensure consistent application of policies, accurate HR information, effective employee communication, and compliance with applicable employment requirements. Travel: Occasional travel as needed Location: Columbus, Montana Employment Type: Full-Time Career Level: Professional Reports To: Director of Human Resources Compensation: Commensurate with experience What You'll Do Serve as a first point of contact for routine employee questions regarding company policies, benefits, payroll processes, leave, attendance, and other HR matters. Support full-cycle recruiting, including job postings, applicant screening, interview coordination, candidate communication, reference checks, drug screening and background checks, and offer preparation. Coordinate new-hire onboarding, orientation, required paperwork, system access, policy acknowledgments, and introductory training. Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records and HRIS data, including employee changes, job and compensation information, leave records, training records, and required documentation. Assist with benefits enrollment, employee communications, eligibility changes, open enrollment, and routine benefit questions. Support timekeeping and payroll-related processes by reviewing employee changes, resolving routine discrepancies, and coordinating accurate information with payroll and management. Assist managers with consistent application of policies, documentation of performance and attendance matters, coaching conversations, and corrective-action processes. Receive and appropriately document employee concerns, conduct or support fact-finding as assigned, maintain confidentiality, and escalate significant employee-relations matters. Track and administer employee leave and accommodation processes in coordination with the Director of Human Resources. Help maintain compliance with applicable employment laws, required postings, record-retention requirements, reporting obligations, and internal policies. Support workers’ compensation, workplace safety, return-to-work, and related documentation. Coordinate and track employee training, policy updates, performance-review cycles, engagement activities, and other HR programs. Prepare routine HR reports and assist in monitoring headcount, turnover, recruiting activity, attendance, training, and other workforce metrics. Participate in HR process improvements and special projects that strengthen employee communication, manager support, compliance, and operational effectiveness. What We're Looking For Three or more years of progressively responsible human resources experience. Experience in manufacturing, distribution, retail, or another operational environment is preferred. General knowledge of employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, benefits, leave administration, HR records, and employment-law compliance. Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and sound HR practices. Strong interpersonal, written communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated judgment, professionalism, follow-through, and the ability to work independently while knowing when to seek guidance. Ability to communicate effectively and build credibility with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion. Ability to balance employee service, compliance, accuracy, and changing priorities in a manufacturing environment. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Equivalent education and relevant experience will be considered. SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred but not required. Technology Skills Proficiency with the Microsoft Office platform, including: Microsoft Word Microsoft PowerPoint Microsoft Outlook Microsoft Excel Experience with HRIS, ADP payroll, or applicant-tracking systems is preferred.
