Senior Data Scientist

Our client is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join an innovation-focused Emerging Technologies Lab, where cutting-edge technologies are explored through rapid proofs of concept and AI-driven prototypes. The team works at the forefront of Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Internet of Things, Robotics, Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality, helping transform innovative ideas into practical business solutions. The role will primarily focus on developing advanced AI capabilities, supporting the organisation’s broader AI strategy and contributing to ongoing AI research and development initiatives. Skills and Requirements: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science or a related field. 5+ years of relevant experience in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Strong expertise in large-scale Neural Networks, Deep Learning and Reinforcement Learning techniques. Practical experience delivering Generative AI projects, including RAG applications, vector databases, LangChain, LlamaIndex and agentic AI frameworks. Advanced proficiency in Python and modern machine learning frameworks, including SciPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, pyMC and pgmpy. Hands-on experience with one or more cloud computing platforms, preferably Azure, with AWS and GCP also considered valuable. Strong understanding of the complete Machine Learning lifecycle, including experience with MLOps and DataOps practices. Experience with Probabilistic Graphical Models, including Bayesian Networks, Markov Random Fields and Factor Graphs. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills with fluent English. Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary technical and business teams. Role and Responsibilities: Develop advanced AI models – Design, develop and train transformer-based models for both text and image-based applications, supporting innovative AI-driven business solutions. Own the end-to-end ML lifecycle – Architect and oversee the complete machine learning lifecycle, including data preparation, model design, training, validation, deployment and ongoing monitoring. Build GenAI solutions – Develop practical Generative AI applications using modern frameworks such as RAG architectures, LangChain, LlamaIndex, vector databases and agentic AI frameworks. Collaborate across disciplines – Work closely with data scientists, software engineers and domain experts to design and implement AI-powered products and prototypes. Drive AI innovation – Contribute to the development of reusable AI assets, prototypes and research initiatives that support the organisation’s broader AI strategy. Apply modern ML techniques – Leverage deep learning, reinforcement learning and probabilistic modelling techniques to solve complex business challenges. Work with cloud technologies – Build and deploy AI solutions using modern cloud platforms, with a particular focus on Azure and cloud-native AI services. Support research and experimentation – Stay up to date with the latest advancements in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, evaluating and integrating new techniques and technologies where appropriate. Deliver scalable AI solutions – Design AI models and solutions that are robust, scalable and suitable for real-world business applications. Contribute to continuous learning – Participate in ongoing AI research and development initiatives while helping shape innovative approaches across the Emerging Technologies Lab.
