Role Overview The Systems Engineer will own the planning, deployment, and maintenance of IT infrastructure, security tools, and support processes, ensuring seamless operations across multiple platforms. The position requires a proactive approach to system administration, network management, project leadership, and technical problem-solving to meet organizational goals and enhance operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities Document IT policies, procedures, and best practices; update and maintain operational documentation. Resolve hardware and software support tickets through Jira or similar ticketing platforms, providing timely issue resolution. Deploy, configure, and manage infrastructure applications and tools: Azure Active Directory, SAML SSO, Intune MDM, Windows, Mac, Linux OS, AWS Workspaces, virtual desktop environments. Configure and maintain network infrastructure: firewalls (e.g., PF Sense), Cisco/Meraki network devices, Ubiquiti networking hardware, ensuring reliable connectivity and security. Utilize monitoring and alerting tools such as New Relic, PagerDuty to track network performance, system availability, and incident management. Manage security and compliance solutions: endpoint protection, vulnerability management (e.g., CheckPoint Harmony, Rapid7). Develop scripts and automate workflows using PowerShell, Automox, and other scripting tools; patch and image Windows and Apple laptops and desktops. Setup and maintain conference room audiovisual systems; support AV needs for meetings and presentations. Provide on-site support at least four days per week; deliver local IT assistance and troubleshoot hardware/software issues. Lead and manage IT projects, including project planning, milestone tracking, and providing status updates to stakeholders. Facilitate employee onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring accounts, equipment, and access are properly managed. Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and operational documentation. Gather, analyze, and interpret metrics to improve IT service delivery and operational efficiency. Make independent decisions regarding operational issues, service requests, and technical solutions. Partner with team members to train and mentor junior systems engineers; share knowledge and industry best practices. Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and security threats; recommend innovative solutions to address business needs. Adhere to change management policies, security standards, and organizational procedures. Maintain and support enterprise management consoles and monitoring systems. Participate in additional projects or tasks as assigned to support organizational growth and technology initiatives. Core Qualifications & Requirements Bachelor’s degree, associate’s degree, or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Minimum of five years of IT operations experience supporting organizations with 150+ users. Hands-on experience supporting IT infrastructure in corporate or enterprise environments. Proven experience with ITIL and Service Management frameworks. At least three years of project management experience, leading technical initiatives end-to-end. Ability to create detailed technical documentation, process workflows, and operational reports. Strong problem-solving skills for complex multi-application, multi-platform environments. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Nice-to-Have Qualifications Experience with Microsoft Server and Active Directory administration. Familiarity with cloud services such as AWS (including virtual desktops) and SaaS management (Salesforce, Dropbox). Knowledge of JAMF for Apple device management. Understanding of database concepts and basic SQL skills. Experience managing WiFi networks, wireless security, and access point deployment. Proficiency with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence) and Google Workspace.
