Summary The Solutions Engineer partners directly with Account Executives and internal teams to support prospective customers through the sales process. In this role, you'll translate complex customer requirements into compelling technical solutions, playing an essential part in demonstrating product value and credibility. You'll be instrumental in validating product-customer fit, supporting every stage of the sales cycle from discovery through to deal close—accelerating deal velocity while ensuring realistic expectations. Responsibilities Work directly with Account Executives and go-to-market teams to showcase product value and secure technical wins. Conduct solution discovery calls with prospective customers to assess requirements, current state, and optimization opportunities. Act as the technical voice during sales cycles—owning discovery, RFP responses, demonstrations, and technical documentation. Prepare and deliver tailored product demonstrations and proof-of-concept designs to validate customer fit. Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Operations to advocate for prospect needs, accelerate deal velocity, and refine solution messaging. Identify and resolve customer technical objections through education, creative solutions, or escalation to internal teams. Stay up-to-date on industry standards, product capabilities, and competitive positioning to maintain technical credibility. Support marketing and partnership initiatives with technical content, case studies, or customer references. Document and share solution patterns, FAQs, and technical decision frameworks to strengthen team enablement. Qualifications Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Solutions Engineer, pre-sales consultant, or technical sales professional. Background in enterprise software, SaaS, or technology sales preferred. Strong understanding of how enterprise systems integrate and the common compliance/technical requirements of your domain. Demonstrated ability to conduct discovery conversations and translate technical requirements into business impact. Outstanding presentation and communication skills—able to explain complex topics to mixed audiences (C-level, technical, operational). That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
