Java Developer Experience: 5+ Years Location: Johannesburg, South Africa Work Model: Hybrid Employment Type: Contract (12 months with extention) Job Overview We are looking for an experienced Java Developer to join our team with strong hands-on Java development experience, solid expertise in Spring/Spring Boot, JPA, Hibernate, Micronaut, Microservices, REST/SOAP APIs , and experience working in high-volume, enterprise application environments. You will be responsible for end-to-end software development, deployment, testing, support, maintenance, and delivering high-quality solutions within an Agile environment. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, test, deploy, support, and maintain Java applications. Develop high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software solutions. Perform unit testing and support Quality Assurance activities. Take end-to-end accountability for assigned deliverables and stakeholder dependencies. Participate in code quality reviews and follow established coding and design standards. Support application deployments and production environments. Troubleshoot and optimize Java applications for performance and scalability. Work closely with Scrum Masters, Delivery Leads, Product Owners, and Technical SME Leads. Manage development activities in line with Sprint planning and Agile delivery practices. Required Technical Skills 5+ years of hands-on Java development experience. Strong experience with Java, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, JPA, Hibernate, and Micronaut . Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Design . Experience designing and developing SOA and Microservices architectures . Strong experience with REST/JSON, SOAP/XML, Web Services, and MQ . Good understanding of API and application security, including JWT and SSL . Strong database experience in high-volume environments with SQL, DB2, Cassandra, and/or MongoDB . Experience with Java application servers. Experience deploying Java applications using Docker, Kubernetes, AWS and/or Azure . Strong experience with CI/CD, DevOps, build, test and deployment automation . Experience with performance monitoring, troubleshooting, optimization, clustering, scaling, multithreading, and session management. Hands-on experience with Git, Maven, SonarQube, Nexus, Eclipse/IntelliJ, and Azure DevOps . Experience Required 5+ years of professional Java development experience. Experience working in Agile environments , including Scrum, Kanban, and/or SAFe. Strong API, SOA, REST, and SOAP experience. Experience with DevOps toolsets and automated software releases. Experience with application development, deployment, and test automation. Experience with performance monitoring and optimization tools. Experience working in high-volume enterprise environments. Detail-oriented with strong technical and domain knowledge. Comfortable taking ownership of end-to-end technical deliverables.
