About the project: Join the team behind IKEA Kreativ, an innovative 3D home design platform used by millions of customers worldwide. As a Senior Web Engineering Tech Lead, you'll lead the development of highly interactive 3D web experiences, helping shape a product that combines spatial computing, 3D graphics, e-commerce, and consumer technology at global scale. In this role, you will architect, implement, and optimize consumer-facing 3D web applications. You will develop high-performance architectures, APIs, and features interfacing between users, the 3D graphics engine, and our microservices cloud platform. You will be the trusted technical leader solving complex frontend challenges, driving technical roadmaps, and strengthening the engineering foundations the team builds upon. What you’ll do: Be a hands-on technical lead for a team of 3-5 web engineers, guiding design & development of consumer-facing features, web architectures, backend APIs and other technologies. Develop & improve web feature capabilities, making them successful and loved by customers, and wisely engineered, maintainable, and scalable). Reliably coordinate complex technology roadmaps with a distributed development team and our partners. Be a trusted partner to your stakeholders: your product manager & designers, company leadership, and your external partners. Drive audience growth with seamless customer journeys: Work closely with service teams to design, build, and develop an integrated customer experience • both online & in-store. Design and promote healthy & effective engineering practices in the team: Conduct code reviews to ensure code & architecture quality, write and review software design documents, and drive efficient and effective test automation. What makes you a great fit: 8+ Years of engineering substantial full-stack web codebases live in production, including ownership of systems at scale. 7+ Years of hands-on experience with modern JavaScript/TypeScript frontend development and React (or equivalent component frameworks), with deep expertise in state management, performance optimization, and component architecture. 5+ Years designing and shipping complex distributed systems, including API design, microservices integration, and performance-critical architectures. Strong foundations in Computer Science and software engineering. Fluency with Internet web technologies and modern full-stack Web Application tech stacks. Familiar with best practices of web DevOps and QA for effective & efficient testing. Experience with consumer internet applications is strongly desired. Able to adjust calendar for meetings with Europe (Eastern Time location preferred). Appreciation for consumer experience and visual aesthetics preferred. Comfortable in a fast-paced distributed engineering environment. Startup experience preferred. Advanced English Level is required for this role, as you will work with US clients. Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
