DCA Trading Company | Architectural Lighting Designer | Qatar | 07/2026 – Present • Develop architectural lighting designs for interior and exterior spaces, including façades, interiors, landscapes, streetscapes, parking areas, and public spaces. • Prepare lighting design concepts, layouts, calculations, simulations, and detailed technical documentation for project stages. • Produce visual presentations, renderings, visualizations, and concept boards to communicate design intent to clients and stakeholders. • Use DIALux, DIALux evo, AGI32, and AutoCAD for lighting calculations, simulations, layouts, and design documentation. • Prepare and contribute to GSAS documentation and support sustainability and energy-efficiency requirements. • Review lighting specifications, shop drawings, product data, and fixture specifications for technical accuracy and compliance. • Select lighting materials, fixtures, and finishes based on design objectives, performance requirements, and specifications. • Coordinate with architects, MEP consultants, clients, contractors, and stakeholders to obtain approvals and support project execution. • Prepare, review, and manage lighting material submittals and support site inspections and resolution of technical issues. • Ensure lighting designs comply with applicable IES, CIBSE, GSAS, and relevant authority requirements. Role Description The Senior Lighting Designer is a full-time, on-site role based in Doha, Qatar. The role involves leading the design and development of lighting solutions for architectural and interior projects, from concept through detailed design and implementation. Daily tasks include creating lighting layouts, selecting fixtures, specifying control systems, preparing technical documentation, and coordinating with architects, interior designers, engineers, and project managers. The Senior Lighting Designer reviews and optimizes lighting performance, ensures compliance with relevant standards, and provides expert guidance on energy efficiency and visual comfort. The role also involves supervising junior designers, participating in client presentations, and supporting project execution through site visits and collaboration with installation teams. Qualifications Demonstrated expertise in Lighting Design and Architectural Lighting for commercial, residential, and public-space projects. Strong skills in Lighting and Lighting Control, including fixture selection, control strategies, and system integration. Experience collaborating on Interior Design concepts, ensuring lighting solutions enhance aesthetics and functionality. Proficiency with lighting design and visualization software (e.g., DIALux, Relux, AGi32, Revit, AutoCAD) and relevant calculation tools. Solid understanding of lighting standards, codes, and best practices, including energy efficiency and sustainability principles. Bachelor’s degree in Lighting Design, Architecture, Interior Design, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field. Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Proven ability to lead projects, manage deadlines, and mentor junior team members in a multidisciplinary environment. Experience working with manufacturing or OEM lighting products is an advantage. Fluency in English; proficiency in Arabic is beneficial.
