Position: Electrical Designer / Junior Electrical Engineer Reports to: Technical Director – Transit Bus & Fleet We are seeking a highly motivated Electrical Designer or Junior Electrical Engineer with expertise with low voltage distribution systems design. The ideal candidate will have exposure to EV charging systems, solar PV integration, and sustainability-driven electrical design. The Electrical Designer / Junior Electrical Engineer is responsible for preparing all required electrical drawings for the conceptual design provided by the Professional Engineer with support of a Senior Designer. These may include drawings for medium voltage distribution, low voltage distribution, networking, site layouts, and foundation details. What you can expect to do with us: You will participate in the development of electrical projects, from preliminary studies to detailed engineering. You will be familiar with design, operation/control and protection philosophies of LV and MV electrical systems. You will prepare CAD/Revit drawings including but not limited to site plans, single line diagrams, panel schedules, communication diagrams, and material takeoffs under the supervision of a Professional Engineer. You will draft electrical equipment and installation specifications under the supervision of a Professional Engineer. You will be conducting site electrical analysis and evaluations along with system studies. You will write purchase and construction quotes for the installation of equipment. You will prepare and analyze bids and tender documents. You will ensure deadlines are respected and that the quality of deliverables is ensured. You will represent the firm to clients. What you will bring to WSP: Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or Engineering technologist. 2+ years of relevant design/drafting experience Hold the title of engineer in training or equivalent Excellent knowledge of 600V/MV electrical distribution networks. Excellent command of the Canadian Electrical code and local additions. Fluent in the English language
