Description: Tell us about your department: This is a Software Engineering position on Best Buy's merchandising domain. We are a small team that manages Vendor Funds, a function that supports our financial systems. We are committed to agile engineering practices, code simplicity, and consistent high quality. Team members contribute to all aspects of software development and delivery. Project Description: Our team has a few different responsibilities. We support and maintain an existing collection of legacy systems, which provide mission-critical value to the company. We are also in the process of replacing those systems with distributed, scalable, custom applications. As we expand the team to accelerate this replacement, we seek to build a collaborative, flexible, and durable team to build and maintain the new systems. Position Summary/Job Description: We are looking for a full stack developer with some leadership experience. This will primarily be a backend role, but there is also frontend work that will be needed. Skills Overview: What are the top five skills and number of years of experience required to perform this job? Fluent in a JVM based language (Java, Groovy, etc.) Fluent in Test Driven Development Strong willingness to pair program 5+ years of experience What are some preferred/nice to have skills the manager is looking for? Service development (REST, HTTP, JSON) Spring Framework Data stores (Postgres, Oracle) Kafka Linux/bash proficiency Open source software (Apache, Tomcat, etc.) React (or other Javascript single page app frameworks) BigQuery Also, you may be the ideal candidate for our team if: You are highly collaborative and enjoy working with others to solve problems. You are enthusiastic and excited about technology. You are flexible, dependable and know how to have fun while getting a lot done. You are open and honest and willing to share and accept feedback and ideas. You are positive and optimistic. You aren't afraid to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty with the rest of the team. You make your opinions known, and also make room for others to share theirs.
