Tech Lead, Mobile Franchise World Headquarters, LLC Why Join Subway? At Subway, we are not standing still. We are building. This is a business focused on what matters most: growing franchisee profitability, strengthening our brand and creating long-term value. The people who thrive here are the ones who want to make a real impact. You will not just do the work. You will shape it. We move fast. We think like owners. We make decisions that matter. We hold ourselves to a high standard because what we do directly impacts thousands of franchisees around the world. If you bring energy, accountability and a bias for action, you will fit right in. We take the work seriously, but we also know the best results come from teams that support each other, celebrate wins and show up ready to build something better every day. This is your chance to be part of what’s next. Position Overview The Tech Lead, Mobile is the senior technical authority for Subway's franchisee-facing mobile applications, built on React Native and Expo (iOS and Android). As a hands-on leader, this role sets the technical direction and architecture for the mobile platform, guides a team of developers through mentorship and code review, and ensures the mobile experience is performant, scalable, and aligned with business goals. The Tech Lead partners closely with product managers, designers, and backend teams to deliver high-quality experiences, shapes the mobile roadmap, and drives engineering excellence — with an active commitment to AI-assisted development as a force multiplier for the team. Responsibilities Lead the technical design, architecture, and development of Subway's franchisee-facing mobile applications using React Native and Expo (iOS and Android); drive the mobile app roadmap, ensuring alignment with business objectives and scalability for future growth. Provide technical leadership to a team of developers including mentoring, code reviews, and fostering a culture of engineering excellence; troubleshoot complex issues and provide guidance on resolving technical challenges across iOS and Android platforms. Use AI coding tools (Claude, GitHub Copilot) as a development accelerator — generating code scaffolding, writing and reviewing tests, creating documentation, and prototyping solutions — while critically reviewing and validating AI-generated output; coach the team on responsible, productive adoption. Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend teams to define and deliver high-quality, user-centric mobile experiences; establish and enforce best practices in mobile development including CI/CD, automated testing, performance optimization, and security. Own the mobile release process across the App Store and Google Play — including build tooling, code signing, and over-the-air updates; collaborate with DevOps and other engineers on observability, security, and compliance, and act on production telemetry to maintain app health. Qualifications Deep expertise in React Native and JavaScript/TypeScript; hands-on experience with the Expo ecosystem including EAS Build, EAS Submit, and EAS Update. Strong understanding of mobile architecture, state management (Redux/Redux Toolkit, Zustand, React Query/TanStack Query), RESTful APIs, and scalable app design. Experience shipping and maintaining production apps including App Store and Google Play submission, code signing, provisioning profiles/certificates, and over-the-air updates. Familiarity with native iOS and Android build tooling (Xcode, Gradle, Swift/Kotlin, native modules) sufficient to debug cross-platform issues. Experience with offline-first architecture and data synchronization for use in low- or no-connectivity environments. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing — Jest and React Native Testing Library for unit/component tests; Detox or Maestro for end-to-end tests — and performance monitoring tools. Working knowledge of mobile security best practices including secure storage, authentication/authorization (OAuth/OIDC, token handling, biometric auth). Experience with mobile analytics instrumentation, feature flags, A-B testing, and production observability/crash reporting (Sentry, Firebase Crashlytics). Experience using AI coding assistants (Claude, GitHub Copilot) in a professional workflow, with the judgment to review, validate, and correct AI-generated code. Proven ability to lead technically without formal people-management authority — influencing through code quality, architectural clarity, and consistent technical judgment. Excellent communication skills; proven ability to lead and inspire engineering teams and partner effectively with product and design. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). 5+ years of mobile app development experience, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership or lead developer role. Proficiency with Git and modern development workflows. Preferred Qualifications Experience with internationalization and localization for apps serving multiple countries and languages. Experience with GraphQL. Domain experience in QSR, retail, franchise, or B2B / partner-facing mobile applications. What do we offer? Insurance Plans (Medical, Life) Pension/401K/RSP (country specific) Competitive Bonus Mobility Allowance Tuition Reimbursement Company Holidays Volunteering time And More…..

144,883 engineer jobs are open right now

Here's how to pick the right one and stand out in your application.

144.883Jobs

That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.

Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.

Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.

When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
