An enterprise level client is seeking a versatile Backend Engineer to drive the modernization of our client backend microservices architecture on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). In this client-facing consulting role, you will play a key part in transforming core services using Node.js/TypeScript and Go. Job Description Design, build, and maintain scalable microservices on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) using Node.js and Go. Partner directly with client stakeholders to understand business requirements, articulate technical strategies, and deliver solutions that drive measurable impact. Optimize and modernize existing backend systems to enhance performance, reliability, and long-term maintainability. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to architect and integrate modern middleware solutions and cloud-native services. Qualifications 5+ years of hands-on backend engineering experience with TypeScript and Node.js (Primary Skill) 2+ years of production-level experience with Go (Secondary Skill) Demonstrated expertise in designing and deploying microservices on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to thrive in client-facing consulting environments Additional Information Availability to work full-time within Mountain Time (MT) business hours

If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.

Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
