Job Description – Full-stack Software Engineer (AI-Native) Company: One of our portfolio companies (Cross-Border Fintech) Location: Mumbai (Onsite) Type: Full-time Experience: ~3 years About the Company One of our portfolio companies is a fast-growing fintech in the cross-border payments space, building modern infrastructure that simplifies and accelerates global trade transactions. Led by seasoned operators, the company is scaling rapidly, solving complex 0-to-1 challenges, and building the banking rails that let Indian exporters collect and move money across the world. This is a rare chance to build core systems from India, for the world. About the Role We are looking for a Full-stack Software Engineer with around 3 years of experience to build across the stack and ship product systems end-to-end. This is a build role, not a maintenance role: the systems that will run this business are being written now, and you will write a lot of them, from merchant onboarding and compliance automation to collections logic and the internal tooling that lets a small team move like a large one. The company operates AI-native. You will be expected to build with AI tools as a first instinct, using them to design, prototype, test, and ship faster than a conventional team would. They would rather have one strong generalist who ships product systems with AI leverage than three specialists who each own a slice. Key Responsibilities Build product systems end-to-end, from database and API through to the interface, owning the whole path rather than an isolated component. Ship with AI leverage across the build cycle: prototyping, code generation, testing, and iteration. Own reliability, security, and quality of systems that move money and handle compliance-sensitive data. Work across the stack and beyond it, picking up adjacent operational, data, and automation tasks when the moment needs it. Translate business problems into practical systems, working closely with founders and the go-to-market team. Execute independently on ambiguous problems with minimal hand-holding, communicating clearly on progress and tradeoffs. Must-Have Skills & Experience ~3 years of software engineering experience with strong, hands-on full-stack coding ability. Habitual use of AI tools and workflows in building, with real examples of what you have shipped faster because of it. Experience building product systems, not just isolated features – you think about how the pieces fit together. Comfort operating in a fast-moving, ambiguous startup environment where scope and priorities shift. A smart-generalist profile: you would rather own a problem across boundaries than defend a narrow specialization. Strong ownership, execution, and communication skills, with a practical, business-oriented approach to problem solving. Required Tech Stack Backend: Python / Django. Frontend: React, TypeScript, HTML, CSS frameworks. RESTful API design and development. Databases: PostgreSQL / MySQL. Docker containerisation. Solid system-design and microservices fundamentals, security and data-protection practices, and clean coding with Git / version control. Preferred Prior experience at an early-stage startup or in a 0-to-1 product build. Exposure to fintech, payments, or other compliance-sensitive, mission-critical systems. Agile and CI/CD exposure, scalable system-design experience, and familiarity with collaboration / PM tools (Jira, Asana, Trello). Why Join? Build the core systems of a licensed cross-border trade bank while they are still being written. Direct access to the founding team – you help decide what gets built, not just how. An AI-native environment deliberately structured to let a small team of strong builders outperform a large one. Meaningful ownership and upside, and a genuine seat in a 0-to-1 story building from India for the world. Interested, or know someone who fits? Comment or DM us.

That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
