The firm is seeking a Financial Systems Engineer to join the Technology department. The Financial Systems Engineer reports to the Financial Systems Manager. This hybrid position is based in the firm’s New York offices in Hudson Yards. RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to: Assist the firm’s Finance Department as the primary engineer supporting all aspects of the Aderant financial system. Provide expert-level support across Aderant modules. Proactively take ownership over vaguely defined issues and drive them to resolution (e.g. prebill generation issues, timeout issues, import errors, matter guidelines issues, issues splitting time, resolving failed jobs, etc.). Expert-level understanding of Expert Billing; Expert General Ledger; Expert AP; AppShell; Generic Importer; Deployment Manager; Expert Rates; Expert Image. Expert-level understanding of SQL and Aderant database structure. Ability to leverage this to debug issues. Strong understanding of accounting workflows as they relate to the movement of data across Aderant modules, debugging, and general application support. Familiartiy with the creation and maintenance of Generic Importer files. Experience with DocuDraft is a plus. Experience with Design Studio is a plus. Experience working with Aderant APIs is a plus. Experience with transition to Sierra is a plus Install, maintain and provide technical expertise for other financial systems (separate from Aderant). Perform application integration, configuration and packaging requirements. Perform QA testing of new application installs and upgrades. Troubleshoot and resolve application issues and enhancement requests. Ensures all team, departmental and firm policies and procedures are adhered to, including technical change management and service continuity. Provide regular status reports and keep multiple stakeholders abreast of issues/initiatives. Work with a variety of IT teams (Development, DBAs, Servers, Storage, Networking, InfoSec, etc.) as needed to resolve issues. Other duties as deemed appropriate by the Financial Systems Manager. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum 2 years of experience supporting a complex ecosystem of systems. Proficiency with T-SQL. Excellent verbal, written, and documentation skills. Strong communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and quickly troubleshoot production issues. Working knowledge of the Microsoft stack: Active Directory, Server operating systems, Group Policy, file and network security, etc. Strong sense of focus and excellent attention to detail, while working in a fast-paced and energetic environment. Must be available to provide weekend and after-hours support. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum 5 years of experience working with Aderant Expert. Basic scripting in PowerShell or another language. Basic knowledge of IIS or another web server technology. Basic knowledge of proxy servers, firewalls, and TCP/IP stack. Bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology and/or Accounting/Finance fields. 2+ years of experience working in a law firm environment.
