Its collections emphasize accessibility, clean lines, and honest materials such as solid timber and genuine leather, aiming to produce furniture that can be lived with and loved for generations. With six showrooms across Australia, including Brisbane, Noosa, Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra, The Modern helps customers create homes that support everyday rhythms, quiet moments, and lasting family traditions. This is a full-time, on-site Product Designer and Developer role based in our Head Office in James Street, Brisbane. In this role, the team member will translate brand values and Mid Century Modern principles into new furniture concepts, products, and collections. Day-to-day responsibilities include : Conducting product research and competitor analysis to understand consumer preferences and market trends. Stay updated on industry trends in relation to product development and product offerings Provide insights to inform product design and development decisions. Generatie creative and innovative ideas and concepts for new products or product enhancements. Defining product specifications, features and performance requirements based on market demands. Work with suppliers and manufacturers to source components, materials and production development. Co-ordinating and creating ranges and collections of both new and existing products Create and manage project timelines to ensure the timely process from development, sample, refinement, production and delivery. Coordinate with the marketing team to develop product launch strategies. Monitor post launch product performance, gathering customer feedback and implementing improvements based on market insights. Required Skills and Qualifications Proven work experience as a product designer in a related field Strong understanding of product development processes, from ideation to commercialization. Market awareness with the ability to translate customer needs into product requirements. Proficiency in product design software and tools A creative mindset and a passion for innovation Ability to work independently as well as within a team. Excellent communication and collaboration skills Strong existing contacts would be beneficial but not essentials. Salary and Beneifts Salary range $95,000 to $120,000 depending on experience and qualifications Generous staff discounts Exciting James Street location Enthusiastic growing team
