Full-Stack Software Engineer Position Overview The Full-Stack Software Engineer is a key member of the Product Platforms organization, responsible for the end-to-end development, delivery, and support of cloud-native software products that enable Bayer Crop Science to accelerate research, regulatory compliance, product development, and commercialization. This role offers true cradle-to-grave ownership, from requirements gathering and solution design through development, testing, deployment, production support, and continuous improvement. The engineer will work closely with scientists, analysts, product managers, regulatory teams, and other technical stakeholders to translate complex business and scientific needs into intuitive, scalable, and reliable digital solutions. The role will contribute to applications such as GAP Align and Seed Materials Creation, supporting critical crop science workflows across the product lifecycle. Business & Product Impact The Product Platforms organization develops standardized digital products used by global, cross-functional teams. These solutions support Crop Science R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Product Supply, Compliance, and Commercial functions by enabling users to work with complex experimental, laboratory, field, regulatory, and operational data. GAP Align: Help build a global system of record for critical crop safety and usage guidelines, supporting scientific and regulatory workflows throughout a product's lifecycle. Seed Materials Creation: Develop applications supporting candidate management, line advancement planning, trial-data processing, and global product profile development. Enterprise Data Products: Deliver dashboards, operational reporting, integrations, and scalable data products used by distributed teams across multiple countries and business functions. Key Responsibilities Full-Stack Development: Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain modern web applications, including responsive user interfaces and robust back-end services and APIs. Requirements & Collaboration: Partner directly with business users, product managers, scientists, analysts, and technical teams to understand requirements, define solutions, and translate business needs into actionable technical designs. Product Ownership: Take cradle-to-grave ownership of assigned applications, contributing throughout the full software development lifecycle and ensuring solutions remain reliable, scalable, secure, and aligned with evolving business needs. Architecture & Design: Contribute to application architecture and technical design decisions, including cloud-native patterns, APIs, microservices, integrations, and scalable data flows. Cloud & Infrastructure: Develop and support applications running in cloud environments, with a strong focus on AWS services and cloud-based architectures. DevOps & CI/CD: Support automated build, test, deployment, and release processes, contributing to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices that improve delivery speed and reliability. Testing & Quality: Develop and maintain automated tests, participate in code reviews, identify defects, and promote engineering practices that improve software quality and maintainability. Production Support: Investigate and resolve application issues, monitor system performance, and implement improvements that ensure high availability, responsiveness, and operational stability. Agile Delivery: Participate actively in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, backlog refinement, and other Agile ceremonies while collaborating with Product Management on roadmaps and priorities. Documentation: Maintain clear and comprehensive technical documentation covering application architecture, code, APIs, operational processes, and support procedures. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline preferred. 5+ years of professional software engineering experience for expert-level positions, with demonstrated experience delivering production software. Strong proficiency in modern programming languages and frameworks, with hands-on experience developing user interfaces using React. Experience developing and integrating APIs and microservices in enterprise or cloud-based environments. Working knowledge of cloud services and cloud-native application architectures; AWS experience is strongly preferred. Experience working within Agile software development teams and familiarity with modern software development lifecycle practices. Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and translate complex requirements into practical software solutions. Preferred Qualifications Experience in agriculture, crop science, life sciences, chemicals, or another scientific or highly regulated industry. Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure. Experience designing scalable enterprise applications, distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native solutions. Experience working with complex scientific, experimental, laboratory, field, regulatory, or high-volume data. Familiarity with AWS development and deployment services and related cloud engineering practices. Relevant technical certifications, such as AWS Certified Developer or comparable cloud/software engineering certifications.
