careers Senior Associate Location: Cayman Islands Function: Legal Reports to: Partner We are a conflict-free, independent offshore litigation and dispute resolution practice located in Jersey, London, BVI and the Cayman Islands. As we grow globally, we have an exciting opportunity for a senior associate who is keen to support and shape the growth of our Cayman Islands offering. If you have experience in insolvency, shareholder disputes, fraud and asset recovery and/or commercial litigation, we’d love to hear from you. Key contacts About The Role This role is an excellent opportunity for a senior associate to work on and manage some of the biggest litigation cases coming out of the Cayman Islands while being supported by a collegiate and formidable team. You’ll Work On Cases Involving: Shareholder disputes Digital asset and Crypto disputes Cross-border Fraud and Asset Recovery Insolvency Funds disputes Trusts disputes Enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards You’ll Have An Opportunity To: Assist in producing and implementing a clear plan for how the client’s aims can be achieved by using a Cayman Islands legal strategy and/or liaising with onshore counsel to deploy a cross-border strategy. Conduct legal research. Prepare first drafts of skeleton arguments, pleadings, chronologies, dramatis personae, affidavits and correspondence (client correspondence and inter partes correspondence). Appear in Court to represent the firm’s clients with training provided to enhance courtroom skills by learning from established attorneys in the firm and undertaking advocacy courses. Act as an advisor to the Partners and provide assistance to them on any given case. Manage certain cases with the supervision of a Partner and ‘take ownership’ of matters assigned to them. Consider requests for legal advice from current and potential clients and to decide, working with Partners, on the most appropriate response. Contribute to business development activities both in the Cayman Islands and, potentially, abroad. These activities include article writing, attending business development meetings, attending conferences and posting on social media. About You 7+ year PQE, preferably with experience in an offshore firm or international firm. Strong academics (educated to degree level, having preferably obtained a 2:1 (or equivalent) or above although all applications will be considered). Keen to further develop an understanding of law and legal procedure. Self-motivated and willing to use initiative. A team player who proactively contributes to the success of the firm. Calm under pressure. High attention to detail and effective organisational skills. Able to prioritise effectively to meet deadlines without compromising accuracy. Exceptional interpersonal skills, demonstrating professionalism in all dealings. Excellent communication skills.
