He angitūtanga: The opportunity Tātaki Auckland Unlimited is Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland’s cultural, events and destination agency, working to make Auckland a vibrant place to live and visit through events, experiences and taonga. We’re looking for an experienced Marketing Manager to lead marketing activity across our exciting Major Events portfolio and help maximise the impact these events have for Tāmaki Makaurau. Working closely with our Major Events team, and on upcoming events such as State of Origin, you’ll be collaborating with event partners and as part of a team of like-minded marketers. Supported by in-house creative, content and communications teams, as well as external media and creative agencies, it’ll be your role to identify opportunities and bring marketing activity to life. You’ll lead marketing planning from strategy through to delivery via campaigns, city dressing, content and partnerships to build awareness, engagement and excitement around Auckland’s major events programme. You’ll consider how activity can strengthen Auckland’s reputation, visitor economy and vibrancy. This is a highly collaborative role requiring strong marketing capability and exceptional relationship skills. You’ll be confident working with senior and high-profile stakeholders, and comfortable navigating a fast-paced events environment. Confident and credible, you’re comfortable working with senior stakeholders and those who are deeply passionate about their events, organisations and industries. You understand that success in this role is not just about promoting an event but also delivering the greatest positive impact for Auckland. You’re confident, organised and comfortable managing multiple priorities in an environment where plans can move quickly. You’re a capable strategic thinker who enjoys the hands-on delivery that turns ideas into successful campaigns. To be successful in this role, you will have: Tertiary qualification in marketing or business with a marketing focus 7–10+ years’ experience in a marketing or marcomms-focused role Strong relationship and stakeholder management experience Confidence working with senior and high-profile partners Experience developing and delivering integrated marketing strategies and campaigns Experience briefing in-house and agency teams Strong strategic, creative and commercial thinking Ability to bring people together around shared objectives Excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building skills Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Experience within major events, sport, entertainment, tourism, arts, culture or another partnership-led environment would be highly advantageous.
