What you Will do: We are seeking an IT Support Engineer to join our team in Stamullen, Co.Meath. This role is primarily focused on Level 1 support, and it is an excellent opportunity for a smart, motivated early-career IT professional who wants to build real hands-on experience across a modern Microsoft environment. Candidates with Level 2 experience are also very welcome, and there is plenty of scope to take ownership of escalations and more advanced systems work. That said, a sharp Level 1 engineer with the right attitude and a willingness to learn is exactly who we are looking for. The role supports a diverse technology environment, primarily focused on Windows devices, Microsoft 365 services, and mobile device management. The scope of work includes providing remote support from the office to employees working at client sites or other company locations. Periodic travel between company sites may be required; some weeks may involve multiple visits, while other periods may have no travel at all. A driving license is considered a plus to facilitate this. This is a full-time, on-site role with no remote or hybrid work options available. Responsibilities will include: Act as the first point of contact for IT support requests (on-site, email, ticketing system). Troubleshoot hardware and software issues on Windows desktops/laptops, with limited MacBook support. Provide support for Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive). Manage user accounts and access via Microsoft Entra (Azure AD). Support mobile devices, with a focus on iPhones. Troubleshoot connectivity issues (WiFi, VPN). Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes (device setups, account provisioning). Document support cases, resolutions, and maintain accurate records. Provide remote IT support for employees working on client premises or in remote offices. Room to Grow (Level 2) Depending on your experience, or as you develop in the role, you may also take on: Escalated, more complex technical issues from Level 1. Advanced troubleshooting for Windows desktops and occasional MacBook support. Windows Server administration and maintenance. Linux servers (Ubuntu): support and basic administration. Network infrastructure: VPNs, switches, and firewall support (basic). Administration of Microsoft Entra (Azure AD) and Microsoft 365 services. Microsoft Intune for Windows and Android device management. Samsung Knox and Google Workspace for Android device management. Support for security tools (endpoint protection, encryption, MFA). Automation of tasks using PowerShell or Bash scripting. Creating and maintaining technical documentation and internal best practices. Mentoring and guidance for Level 1 staff (for experienced hires). Requirements: Strong troubleshooting abilities with a customer-first mindset. Proficiency with Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365 tools. Good understanding of basic networking concepts (IP, DNS, DHCP). Experience supporting Windows PCs and mobile devices (iOS, Android). Familiarity with Microsoft Entra (Azure AD) for user and access management. Strong communication skills (verbal and written). 1+ years of experience in IT support or helpdesk roles. Curiosity, initiative, and a genuine willingness to learn new technologies. Exposure to Intune is a plus. Certifications such as CompTIA A+ or ITIL Foundation are a plus. Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator, CompTIA Network+, or Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (preferable but not required). Here's how to pick the right one and stand out in your application.

That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.

Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.

Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.

When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
