About You Bachelor degree in Commerce/Business with an emphasis in Accounting CA or CPA completed or near completion Position Summary The Senior Accountant is responsible for the management, development and administration of a portfolio of clients under the direction of their Manager. This involves maintaining an appropriate level of service to clients and producing a high standard of work. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for delegating and reviewing work undertaken by junior team members. The Senior Accountant must be technically proficient and up to date with developments in taxation law and accounting standards, systems and processes and they will readily share their expertise with staff and colleagues. The Senior Accountant is also responsible for meeting productivity and client budgets, providing feedback and guidance to junior staff members and providing value-added services to clients. The Senior Accountant will take full responsibility and ownership of the completion of allocated jobs and is effectively responsible for managing their own workflow under the direction of their Manager. This involves the planning, delegation and review of this work, the expectation is that they will be capable of passing on a completed assignment back to their Manager for review. Key Requirements Advanced understanding of the Corporations Act, relevant accounting standards, tax legislation and other research as they relate to the work undertaken Adequate amount of experience in an accounting position required to be successful in the role Able to field queries from clients in relation to technical matters Ability to research complex matters, interpret findings and report back to Manager/Partner Demonstrable experience and skill in effectively leading by example for their team to achieve and exceed KPI’s Is a product specialist (Xero, etc.) and can support other staff in acquiring this skillset Job Responsibility Manage and administer a portfolio of clients Performing all compliance and value add work as required to a quality standard Reviewing work delegated to and completed by Graduates Preparation and review of complex individual, company, trust, partnership tax returns with limited supervision or direction Advanced working knowledge of GST, Business Activity Statements and Instalment Activity Statements Providing feedback, coaching and technical support to any staff member that works on your clients Providing technical support and guidance to Graduates as requested by the Partner/Manager To identify and develop existing and potential business opportunities within the Senior Accountant’s client base and discuss this with the Partner/Manager To assist with potential and new client opportunities or initiatives such as attending client meetings, preparation of advice and presentations Other duties as required by the organisation such as interviewing clients, attendance at training, acting as a buddy/mentor to a new member of staff, special projects External training focused on the development of more specific technical knowledge through seminars and workshops Provide assistance with the system and technical based training of Graduates and Accountants Participate in the delivery of internal training sessions Job Functions Senior Accountant Job Benefits Flexible working arrangements Supportive and friendly team and management Stunning office location Focus on wellbeing Regular team culture days
