I’m partnering with an energy trading business that is hiring an Energy Quantitative Trading Analyst to join its short term power trading team. This is a hands on role sitting directly alongside the traders, combining quantitative analysis, Python development and exposure to live trading. The role would suit someone who enjoys working close to the market and wants to develop their trading knowledge alongside their quantitative skill set. The role: Use Python to develop quantitative analytics and tools for the short term power trading team Support traders with hedging strategies and risk analysis Analyse market data to identify trading opportunities and improve decision making Work directly alongside traders on the desk and gain hands on exposure to trading Develop tools and models to support short term trading strategies Get involved in a wide variety of quantitative and trading projects across the desk Translate trading requirements into practical analytical solutions Continuously improve existing analytics, models and processes What they are looking for: Strong Python capabilities are essential Ability to read, write, interpret and debug Python code independently, without relying on AI tools Strong quantitative and analytical skills Interest in energy markets and short term power trading Comfortable working closely with traders in a fast moving environment Ability to work with large datasets and translate analysis into actionable insights Strong problem solving skills and a practical approach to quantitative analysis Previous experience in energy, commodities, trading or quantitative analysis would be advantageous Why join?
