Diesel Equipment Mechanic

The Diesel Equipment Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel-powered vehicles and heavy equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This role performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and major repairs on engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, electrical systems, and other equipment components. Responsibilities Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines and related systems on trucks, construction equipment, agricultural machinery, generators, and other diesel-powered equipment. Perform preventative maintenance services, including oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and fluid checks. Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, cooling, electrical, steering, braking, and transmission systems. Utilize computerized diagnostic equipment to identify mechanical and electrical issues. Conduct engine overhauls, rebuilds, and component replacements as needed. Maintain accurate service records, repair documentation, and maintenance logs. Ensure equipment complies with safety regulations and operating standards. Test repaired equipment to verify proper performance and functionality. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Minimum of 2 years of diesel mechanic experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and heavy equipment maintenance. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and repair documentation. Proficiency with diagnostic tools and computerized maintenance systems. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Valid driver's license required.
