Company: DEV HOUSE Industry: Mobile Games Focus: Casual, Hybrid-Casual & Hyper-Casual Games Position: Mid to Senior About the Role DEV HOUSE is looking for a Mid to Senior Game UI/UX Designer who can take a functional Unity prototype and transform it into a polished, visually compelling, production-ready mobile game experience . This is not a traditional web or app UI/UX position. We are looking for someone who understands mobile games, gameplay presentation, player feedback, visual hierarchy, game feel, and the visual language of successful casual and hybrid-casual titles . You will work at the intersection of Game Design, Art, and Unity Development , helping establish the visual direction of our games before they move deeper into production. You won't simply receive a list of assets to create. We expect you to look at a rough prototype, understand its mechanic and player experience, identify visual and UX problems, explore references, propose a direction, and help take the game from prototype quality to production quality . Gameplay Visual Direction Take rough Unity prototypes and establish a clear visual direction for production. Design the overall composition and presentation of gameplay screens. Define color palettes, typography, iconography, visual hierarchy, spacing, and UI language. Create moodboards, references, style explorations, and visual concepts. Study successful mobile games and identify relevant visual patterns without simply copying competitors. Ensure the game's visuals complement its core mechanic and remain immediately understandable on a mobile screen. Game UI/UX Design and improve game interfaces including: Gameplay HUDs Buttons and controls Queue and inventory systems Progress indicators Boosters and power-ups Currencies and rewards Level selection Level-complete / fail screens Popups and dialogs Tutorials and player guidance Menus and settings Progression interfaces Other gameplay-specific UI systems Your work should make the game clearer, more satisfying, more polished, and easier to understand . High-Fidelity Game Design Turn rough gameplay into polished high-fidelity gameplay mockups. Create production-ready UI components and graphical assets. Build reusable UI component libraries and style guides where appropriate. Design for multiple mobile screen sizes and aspect ratios. Maintain visual consistency throughout the player experience. Consider animation, feedback, transitions, VFX, and other elements that contribute to game feel. Cross-Functional Collaboration You will work closely with: Game Designers — to understand mechanics, progression, player behavior, and intended experience. Unity Developers — to ensure designs are practical, responsive, optimized, and implemented correctly. 2D/3D Artists — to request or guide supporting artwork, environments, props, models, textures, and other visual elements. Marketing / UA Team — to understand market trends, competitor positioning, and the visual marketability of new concepts. You will also review implemented builds and provide detailed visual feedback until the game reaches the intended quality. What We're Looking For Strong professional experience designing UI/UX specifically for games . Excellent understanding of mobile game UI and gameplay presentation. Strong visual design fundamentals: composition, hierarchy, typography, color, spacing, shape language, and iconography. Ability to transform rough prototypes into polished gameplay concepts. Ability to independently establish a visual direction rather than relying on detailed instructions. Strong understanding of usability and readability on mobile screens. Experience creating high-fidelity gameplay mockups and production-ready assets. Understanding of player feedback, visual communication, and game feel. Ability to communicate design decisions clearly with developers, artists, and game designers. Strong attention to visual consistency and implementation quality. Preferred Experience Experience with casual, hybrid-casual, puzzle, or hyper-casual mobile games is highly preferred. We especially value candidates who understand the visual language of modern mobile games: simple but polished interfaces, strong readability, satisfying interactions, clear player guidance, and highly accessible gameplay presentation. Experience taking games from prototype → visual direction → production → polish is a major advantage. Unity – Strong Advantage You do not need to be a gameplay programmer. However, practical Unity knowledge will be considered a significant advantage, particularly experience with: Unity UI / uGUI Canvas systems Anchors and responsive layouts Prefabs Sprite slicing / 9-slicing TextMeshPro UI animation Basic VFX / particle integration UI implementation Mobile resolutions and aspect ratios Candidates who can personally implement, test, or polish their designs inside Unity will be particularly valuable. Tools Strong proficiency with relevant design tools such as: Figma Adobe Photoshop Adobe Illustrator Experience with Unity is highly preferred. Experience with additional tools for illustration, animation, prototyping, or game asset production is a plus. What You Should Be Able to Deliver For a typical game, you should be comfortable owning: Visual and competitor research Moodboard and visual direction Gameplay screen concepts Game UI/UX flows High-fidelity gameplay mockups UI components and design system Production-ready UI assets Developer handoff Unity implementation review Final visual consistency and polish Experience We are primarily interested in quality of experience and portfolio , rather than years alone. Ideally, you have: 4+ years of professional game UI/UX or game UI art experience Shipped or production-level mobile game experience Experience collaborating directly with game designers, developers, and artists Experience owning substantial parts of a game's visual/UI direction Portfolio Requirement A relevant game portfolio is required. Your portfolio should demonstrate: Actual game UI Gameplay screens HUDs and gameplay systems Mobile game interfaces High-fidelity gameplay mockups Before/after or prototype-to-polish examples where possible Shipped or production-level game work Important: Portfolios consisting primarily of websites, dashboards, SaaS products, or conventional mobile application UI will not be sufficient for this position. We are specifically looking for someone who understands game UI, gameplay presentation, and mobile game visual design . Who Will Succeed in This Role You'll be a strong fit if you can open an unfinished Unity build and think: “I understand the mechanic. I can see what's visually missing, I know how the player should read this screen, and I can define what this game should look and feel like.” We want someone who can then turn that thinking into a visual direction the entire production team can execute. At DEV HOUSE, you'll have the opportunity to work across multiple new game concepts, collaborate directly with game designers, developers, artists, and marketing teams, and have meaningful ownership over how our games ultimately look and feel. If your strength is turning promising prototypes into polished mobile game experiences, we'd like to see your work.
