Job Description POSITION OBJECTIVE Under limited supervision, analyze and/or create customer and technical requirements. Design, develop, implement and test high quality and robust university-wide applications and reports supporting the division of University Relations and Development. Research and develop technical requirements for enhancements to existing or new application software and design and develop data configurations and reporting. Responsible for developing and retaining core knowledge of the business application and becoming a key resource into troubleshooting performance and reporting issues. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Analyze data requirements, identify data sources; diagrams data flow and data relationships. Create logical design of applications databases from customer data requirements; develop database specifications; define file/table structures; analyze systems interface requirements, create the integration and migration programs. Coordinate and integrate assigned work with other team members. Create queries to extract, transform, and load data into database. Collaborates with technical and non-technical internal resources to produce and support analytics and transaction level reports, dashboards, and data cubes. Performs unit testing for solutions developed and ensures integrity and security of data. Create test plans, data, procedures and scripts. Use honesty and integrity to keep university data confidential. (60%) Contribute to the strategic planning of applications and technology for University Relations and Development. Provide technical support for software applications including analyzing, troubleshooting and resolving complex problems. Analyze and/or write current and continuing technical requirements. Evaluate technology alternatives, determine and resolve problems. Design and develop programs to address requirements for data conversions. Test and debug applications in conjunction with business intelligence team members and customers and develop programs for automatic correction of erroneous data. (25%) Analyze data, processes and system interactions; identifies alternatives for establishing systems and data interfaces and converting legacy systems to new technologies. Write system requirements and/or specification documents. Serve as a resource for consultants and customers. Participates in system upgrades and other support activities as needed. Assist with technical requirements. Assures program meets quality standards. (10%) NONESSENTIAL FUNCITONS Perform other duties as assigned. (5%) CONTACTS Department: Daily contact with staff within the division to maintain workflow/ exchange information. University: Daily contact with University Relations and Development personnel to provide technical assistance with applications. External: Contact with vendors as needed to perform essential functions. Students: None. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES No direct supervisory responsibility. May supervise work of application developers, junior business systems analysts, and/or contractors. May supervise work of project team members. Provide mentoring for application developers. May ensure others comply with established standards. QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, business, or related field and at least 5 to 7 years of progressive experience; OR Associate's degree in computer science, information technology, business, or related field and at least 7 years of experience. REQUIRED SKILLS In-depth knowledge in SQL for data querying and reporting within CRM systems; experienced with CRM automation tools to streamline workflows and enhance engagement; skilled in building reports and dashboards using Power BI, Tableau, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, or similar; familiar with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for CRM customization and web-based reporting; and knowledgeable in Microsoft Dynamics CRM, particularly as it relates to Ellucian CRM Advance. In-depth knowledge of fundraising regulations, policies, and procedures; experience with fundraising and donor relations data and reporting as well as is preferred. In-depth knowledge of principles and methods of systems analysis, including business process and entity relationship analysis tools and methods. In-depth knowledge of basic database theory, design rules and development practices, including data modeling, data flow and entity relationship analysis. Demonstrate thorough understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and utilize the ability to lead efforts in systems design principles, methodologies, and tools, including those applicable to web-based environments. Strong sound business communication skills with the ability to communicate complex material in ways the customers can understand. Working knowledge of basic project management methods, tools and techniques. In-depth general functions, capabilities, characteristics and limitations of standard computer platforms and devices as they apply in performing business and systems analysis. In-depth knowledge of standard PC software packages, including word processing, spreadsheet, database and flowcharting. Ability to serve as a resource for others. Ability to be flexible to meet the constantly changing scope and needs of the department, division and customers being served. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects. Ability to optimize the use of time and resources to achieve the desired results; effectively plans and organizes work to minimize crises; prioritize appropriately. Ability to work with technologies for which little or no documentation or precedence exists. Commitment to self-motivated lifelong learning. Computer proficiency (including Microsoft Office) and the ability to learn new programs. Ability to meet consistent attendance. Ability to demonstrate successful support, education, and advocacy for all students, aligned with the values, mission, and messaging of the university, while adhering to the staff policy on conflict of commitment and interest. Willingness to learn and work with artificial intelligence (AI) tools and technologies.
