Database Performance Engineer (Oracle) at BairesDev As a Database Performance Engineer (Oracle), you will specialize in tuning and optimizing Oracle database environments to ensure peak performance and reliability. You will act as a key technical resource for identifying bottlenecks and implementing advanced configuration strategies for mission-critical data systems. What You'll Do Perform deep-dive analysis of database performance using AWR (Automatic Workload Repository) and ASH (Active Session History) reports. Optimize complex SQL queries by implementing SQL profiles, outlines, and execution plan baselines. Manage and tune Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters) to ensure high availability and efficient resource utilization across nodes. Configure and optimize memory structures and storage layouts to support high-throughput database workloads. Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to define database performance standards and scalability requirements. Proactively monitor database health and implement automated solutions for performance regression detection. What We Are Looking For 4+ years of experience in Database Performance Engineering or Database Administration. Proven expertise in tuning Oracle database performance using AWR and ASH analysis. Proficiency in SQL tuning and the creation of SQL profiles to optimize query execution. Hands-on experience with Oracle RAC optimization and high-availability configurations. Deep understanding of Oracle memory and storage configuration for performance at scale. Advanced proficiency in English. That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
