Laboratory Animal Caretaker

Culmen International LLC is seeking a Laboratory Animal Caretaker to provide daily care and husbandry of laboratory animal colonies, including nonhuman primates and rodents, in support of biomedical research activities in Lima, Peru. The Laboratory Animal Caretaker will help ensure that animals are maintained in a safe, sanitary, and humane environment and that animal husbandry, veterinary care support, and research practices consistently meet the standards established for an AAALAC-accredited biomedical animal research facility. Provide daily care and husbandry of laboratory animal colonies, including nonhuman primates and rodents, in a safe, sanitary, and humane manner. Perform routine feeding, watering, cleaning, and maintenance of animal housing areas and equipment in accordance with established procedures. Monitor animals daily and promptly report any changes in health, behavior, appetite, activity, or general condition to veterinary or supervisory personnel. Support the continuous maintenance of high-quality standards in animal husbandry, veterinary care, and research practices within an AAALAC-accredited biomedical animal research facility. Clean, disinfect, and maintain animal rooms, cages, equipment, and work areas according to established schedules and procedures. Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with occupational health, biosafety, biosecurity, and facility safety requirements. Maintain accurate and timely records related to animal care, husbandry activities, environmental conditions, cleaning, feeding, and other assigned activities. Participate in required training and maintain current knowledge of applicable animal care, safety, and facility procedures. Perform other related duties as assigned.
