Your role What You'll Be Doing Senior Software Engineer What We Need Corpay is currently looking to hire a Senior Software Engineer within our Alpha division. In this role, you will play a key part in designing, developing, and evolving the cloud-native applications, backend services, and event-driven systems that underpin Corpay's eMoney and FX platforms. Working closely with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, Architects, and cross-functional engineering teams, you will build secure, resilient, and scalable software solutions that support business-critical financial services. This team focuses on delivering software that improves operational efficiency, enables business capabilities, and provides reusable technical solutions across the organisation. You'll build applications and services that automate business processes, connect systems through event-driven architectures, and enable engineering teams to deliver scalable, reliable solutions. The systems you develop will play a critical role in enabling and supporting the platforms, workflows, and services that power Corpay's global payments ecosystem. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will contribute to architectural decisions, take ownership of complex technical initiatives, mentor other engineers, and champion engineering best practices while remaining hands-on throughout the software development lifecycle. Design and implement event-driven applications and distributed systems using asynchronous messaging patterns to enable scalable communication and integration between business systems. Design and develop software solutions using C# and .NET, leveraging AWS, serverless technologies, and modern architectural patterns. Develop reusable backend services, RESTful APIs, and shared application capabilities that can be leveraged across multiple products and engineering teams. Design and build software that automates business processes, improves operational efficiency, and enables scalable integration across business platforms. Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, Architects, and engineering teams to analyse business requirements and deliver high-quality technical solutions. Contribute to the design and evolution of distributed systems, providing input into architecture, scalability, resilience, security, and performance. Take ownership of technical delivery throughout the software development lifecycle, from solution design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support. Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while promoting engineering best practices, secure development principles, and coding standards. Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and helping maintain high engineering standards across the team. Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and day-to-day collaboration. Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term improvements to system reliability and application performance. Work closely with DevOps and Infrastructure teams to ensure applications are scalable, observable, and operationally resilient. Produce and maintain technical documentation, including solution designs, API documentation, and architectural decisions. Continuously identify opportunities to improve software quality, operational efficiency, engineering processes, and system performance. Communicate technical solutions and progress effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Qualifications & Skills Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Minimum of 8 years of professional software engineering experience designing and building scalable backend systems and cloud-native applications. Strong experience developing applications using C# and modern .NET. Strong experience designing cloud-native applications using AWS and serverless architectures. Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architecture. Strong experience designing and developing event-driven applications using messaging and event streaming technologies such as Amazon EventBridge, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Amazon SQS/SNS, or similar. Experience designing and developing reusable backend services, RESTful APIs, and system integrations. Experience building workflow automation, business process orchestration, or event-driven business applications. Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases, including data modelling and performance optimisation. Experience defining and maintaining cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code, with practical experience of AWS CloudFormation. Good understanding of Kubernetes and modern cloud deployment environments. Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and observability practices for production systems. Strong understanding of secure software development principles and cloud security best practices. Experience designing highly available, resilient, business-critical software systems. Ability to analyse complex business processes and design scalable software solutions that automate workflows and improve operational efficiency. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills. Strong communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills. Nice to Have Experience within financial services, payments, banking, or other regulated industries. Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD), Clean Architecture, and modern software architecture patterns. Experience working with distributed caching technologies such as Redis. Experience contributing to CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
