LHH is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join a growing organization. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate will have recent experience with ADP Workforce Now. This role is Direct Hire and paying $60,000-80,000 annually, depending on experience. Payroll Administration Process weekly and semi-monthly payrolls for exempt and non-exempt employees, including U.S. and Canadian payroll Maintain employee payroll information, including new hires, status changes, compensation updates, and other payroll adjustments Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax and unemployment requirements Process wage garnishments, tax levies, and other court-ordered deductions Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries Maintain accurate payroll records in accordance with legal retention requirements Perform monthly payroll reconciliations and assist with quarterly audits Process relocation and expatriate payroll adjustments, including applicable gross-ups Communicate payroll updates, requirements, and issues across HR, Finance, and other departments 401(k) Administration Process weekly 401(k) contributions and employee updates Assist with 401(k) loans, hardship withdrawals, and plan changes Participate in annual 401(k) audits and related compliance activities HRIS & Payroll Systems Generate standard and ad hoc payroll and HRIS reports Identify opportunities to improve and streamline payroll processes through system enhancements Serve as a subject matter expert on payroll and HRIS systems Support payroll and HRIS system updates, upgrades, and implementations Cross-Functional Support Cross-train with other payroll team members and provide backup support Assist with payroll and benefits training during new hire onboarding Serve as a resource for employees regarding payroll and time-off policies Support HR initiatives, audits, and reporting requirements Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other internal teams to ensure accurate and timely payroll administration Qualifications 5+ years of payroll processing experience supporting both exempt and non-exempt employees Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll regulations and wage and hour laws Experience processing overtime, double-time, holiday pay, shift differentials, and other earnings Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, WFM, or similar platforms Advanced Excel and/or Google Sheets skills Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reconciliation skills Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet strict payroll deadlines Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Ability to handle confidential employee and payroll information with discretion Strong communication and customer service skills Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field Experience with ADP Workforce Manager and/or Workday Experience working in a union environment Experience supporting both U.S. and Canadian payroll Experience with expatriate or international payroll is a plus
