Job Description Job Title Java Software Engineer – Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Overview / Summary We are seeking a Software Engineer to build resilient, scalable solutions in Java and cloud-native environments. This role is responsible for designing, building, deploying, and supporting cloud-based infrastructure and services while contributing to the development of Connected Consumer and Vehicle applications. The position collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing solutions aligned with enterprise architecture and business needs. Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 4 days per week in the office. Key Responsibilities Design, build, and deploy cloud-based infrastructure and managed services for private and public cloud environments. Design and deploy cloud environments aligned with enterprise architecture, security requirements, and business needs. Collaborate with enterprise architects, security teams, solution architects, product teams, and other stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing cloud infrastructure solutions. Monitor cloud system usage and forecast future infrastructure capacity needs. Develop automation scripts and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates for provisioning and configuring cloud resources. Configure and manage cloud resources including identity services, virtual private clouds, gateways, SSL, Kubernetes clusters, and NoSQL data stores. Integrate enterprise security and disaster recovery policies into cloud infrastructure. Design, implement, and optimize cloud-based storage solutions for availability, security, and cost efficiency. Support engineering roadmaps, cloud cost optimization, resource utilization, and high availability across geographic regions. Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and support modernization efforts, including migration from on-premises services to cloud platforms. Develop and maintain Java-based services using Spring Boot and RESTful APIs. Code, test, and deploy application features with a focus on consistency, optimization, resilience, and security. Develop comprehensive test plans, automate delivery processes, and improve deployment efficiency. Design API load-testing strategies and collaborate with security teams on threat modeling. Work with relational and NoSQL databases, including data modeling, transactional integrity, and performance tuning. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions and provide ongoing application support. Generate metrics, manage user access authorization, maintain passwords, and build deployment pipelines. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 3–5 years of development experience. At least 2–3 years of experience building applications using a microservices architecture. Expertise with: Java Spring Spring Boot JUnit Google Cloud Platform (GCP) RESTful APIs Experience with MongoDB, relational databases, and NoSQL solutions. Experience using GitHub for source code management and CI/CD workflows. Experience with Jenkins CI/CD pipelines. Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and cloud resource provisioning. Understanding of Continuous Delivery processes, testing frameworks, and tools such as GitHub, Terraform, and Tekton. Experience with JSON, REST, Swagger, and Hoppscotch. Ability to build resilient and scalable cloud-native solutions while following engineering best practices and company standards. Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree. Experience with: PostgreSQL MySQL Python scripting OAuth authentication Visual Studio Copilot IntelliJ Postman/Hoppscotch Knowledge of Agile Software Development practices. Experience with JIRA or similar Agile project management tools. Familiarity with SonarQube, CheckMarx, and Dynatrace. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies. Passion for engineering excellence. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
