The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and quality of accounting activities, reviewing the work performed by the accounting team, coordinating key accounting processes, supporting month-end and year-end close, and contributing to the continuous improvement of the finance function. The role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, ownership, and the ability to coordinate accounting activities across multiple legal entities. 📋 Your Responsibilities: Review of Accounting Operations Review accounting entries prepared by the Junior Accountant. Review supplier invoices, customer invoices and bank transaction postings. Verify the accuracy of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processing. Ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with accounting policies and statutory requirements. Identify posting errors and ensure timely corrections. Provide technical guidance and day-to-day support to Junior Accountants. Monitor the timely completion of daily accounting activities. Ensure compliance with internal accounting procedures and controls. Accounts Receivable & Recharges Calculate and review intercompany and client recharge amounts. Prepare supporting documentation for recharge transactions. Prepare or review recharge invoices. Ensure the correct accounting treatment of recharge transactions. Reconcile recharge balances and investigate differences. Coordinate with operational departments regarding recharge calculations when required. Reconciliations Prepare and review monthly reconciliations for: Bank accounts Suppliers Customers Intercompany balances Payroll accounts VAT accounts Other balance sheet accounts Review reconciliations prepared by Junior Accountants. Investigate reconciliation differences and propose accounting adjustments. Ensure reconciliations are completed within the month-end timetable. Maintain complete supporting documentation for audit purposes. Payment Process Review invoices from an accounting and documentation perspective before payment. Ensure all payments are supported by approved documentation. Month-End Closing Coordinate assigned month-end closing activities. Prepare month-end schedules and supporting documentation. Review AP and AR ageing reports. Review balance sheet reconciliations. Prepare accruals, prepayments and other closing journals. Analyse significant account movements and variances. Prepare explanations for management and auditors where required. Escalate complex accounting matters on a timely basis. Tax & Statutory Support Support the preparation of VAT returns and other statutory declarations. Review VAT and tax-related accounting balances. Assist in the preparation of statutory financial information. Ensure accounting records comply with local statutory requirements. Support the implementation of accounting policies and internal controls. Audit & Compliance Prepare audit supporting documentation. Maintain complete accounting documentation. Support both internal and external audit activities. Process Improvement Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls. Contribute to the standardisation of accounting procedures. Support the implementation of process improvements and automation initiatives. Maintain and update accounting working procedures where required. Team Collaboration Support the coordination of daily accounting activities. Assist in planning accounting priorities and workload. Share technical knowledge with Junior Accountants. Support onboarding and training of new team members. Collaborate closely with the Finance Director, Chief Accountant and other departments to ensure efficient financial operations. 💼 What You'll Bring: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in accounting. Strong expertise in Romanian accounting standards and tax regulations. Advanced Excel skills; experience with SAGA software is a plus.
