Title And Summary Senior Software Engineer We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and maintain scalable enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will have strong Java development skills and a quality-first mindset, contributing across the full software development lifecycle including development, automated testing, integration testing, deployment, and production support. Key Responsibilities Software Development Design, develop, and maintain Java-based applications and microservices. Implement secure, scalable, and high-performance solutions using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and related technologies. Participate in system design, architecture reviews, and technical discussions. Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices. DevOps & Automation Contribute to CI/CD pipeline development and automation. Improve build, deployment, and testing processes through automation. Monitor application performance and participate in operational support. Quality Engineering Develop and execute unit, integration, regression, and API tests. Build and maintain automated test suites to improve product quality and release confidence. Create test scenarios, test data, and validation strategies based on business requirements. Troubleshoot defects, perform root cause analysis, and collaborate with teams to resolve issues. Support performance, deployment verification, and release testing activities. Collaboration & Leadership Work closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and cross-functional teams. Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices. Drive continuous improvement in development and testing processes. Required Skills 7+ years of experience in Java development. Strong knowledge of Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, SQL, and Microservices. Experience with JUnit, Mockito, TestNG, REST Assured, Postman, or similar testing frameworks. Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or equivalent. Knowledge of Agile/Scrum development methodologies. Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and analytical skills. Experience API Automation, or test automation frameworks. Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP). Experience with Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes. Understanding of performance and security testing concepts. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.

When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
