Location New York Business Area Engineering and CTO Ref # 10052871 Description & Requirements Description The Corporate Technology Group designs, deploys and supports Bloomberg's platforms and systems used by more than 21,000 employees across 170+ offices worldwide. The team supports critical infrastructure services that enable internal applications, data platforms, engineering workflows, and enterprise operations across Bloomberg. What's the Role? As a Senior SQL & Hosted Services Engineer, you'll help maintain and continuously improve Bloomberg's globally distributed SQL Databases and application hosting platforms. Working as part of a global engineering team, you’ll drive reliability, automation, operational excellence, and service availability across SQL-backed workloads and the compute, storage, and virtualization platforms they depend on. We'll trust you to Ensure the availability, reliability, and operational readiness of compute, storage, virtualization, SQL and supporting platform services. Identify and deliver improvements to reliability, simplify processes, reduce manual effort and increase automation across supported platforms Help to define and implement operational standards, metrics, documentation and playbooks that improve consistency and supportability. Contribute to platform lifecycle improvements, helping engineer services that are easy to operate, monitor, and scale. Embrace new technologies, operational practices, and ways of working that improve service delivery and support our long-term platform strategy. Improve monitoring, alerting, telemetry, and service health reporting to proactively identify risk and reduce service impact. You'll need to have Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or equivalent systems and platform experience. 4+ years of experience designing, building and supporting Microsoft SQL Server infrastructure and Windows failover clustering technology to deliver high availability. Good working knowledge of enterprise-scale virtualization platforms, multiple Windows Operating System environments, SAN and NAS storage systems and TCP/IP networking. Solid understanding of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, DFS, Sites and Services, SPNs, service accounts, and related Windows Server platform services. Experience supporting enterprise backup and disaster recovery processes. Working knowledge of PowerShell, Python, SQL/T-SQL, or similar automation and scripting technologies. Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and communication skills with a focus on operational excellence and continuous improvement. Ability to quickly learn new technologies and work collaboratively across multiple engineering disciplines. We'd love to see Exposure to migrating services to private or hybrid cloud hosting platforms System owner level Linux administration experience. Experience with enterprise server infrastructure management platforms such as HPE Oneview Experience creating runbooks, playbooks, operational readiness reviews, and ITSM knowledge articles. Working knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps, Infrastructure as Code practices and tools. Experience using monitoring and observability platforms such as Grafana, Splunk, Falcon, or Humio. Experience with SCCM, Windows operating system deployment, software deployment, and patch management. Salary Range = 130,000 - 225,000 USD Annual + Benefits + Bonus The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level. Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
