Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton, a global Am Law 50 firm, has an immediate opening for a Payroll Analyst in the Los Angeles Office. Job Summary The Payroll Analyst I is responsible for ensuring employees are paid accurately, on time, and in compliance with applicable laws and internal policies across U.S. and international locations. This role manages end-to-end payroll processing, reconciles payroll reports and funding, and partners closely with HR and Finance to resolve discrepancies. The Payroll Analyst I also analyzes payroll data to identify trends, strengthen controls, improve efficiency, and support informed decision-making. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, service-oriented, and committed to accuracy, confidentiality, and continuous improvement. Essential Functions Ensure accurate, timely and compliant payroll processing for international and US employees while managing regulatory compliance. Process payroll in accordance with local labor laws, tax regulations, and company policies. Required Qualifications Analytical Skills, Attention to Detail, Technical Proficiency, Communication Skills. Preferred Qualifications : Knowledge of Regulations Education Preferred: Bachelor’s degree or higher Major (if applicable): Accounting, Finance, Business, or HR, plus relevant experience License and Certification Preferred: CPP, CIPP, or FPC Computer/Software Knowledge Required: Proficiency in UltiPro (UKG), ADP Global, ProPay, HRIS systems, and Excel/Word Work Environment Working indoors with limited exposure to hazards (only those that customarily come up in working in an office building with multiple floors). This position requires that you work physically in our Los Angeles office Monday through Friday. Access will be by stairs or elevator. Occasional overtime will be required. California: The salary range for this position is $46.00 - $56.00 per hour.
