Skills And Attributes For Success We are looking for curious and highly motivated individuals who are passionate about data, technology and continuous learning. To qualify for the role, you must have Knowledge of SQL and Python. Understanding of Big Data platforms fundamentals, relational database concepts, ETL/ELT processes and Data Warehousing principles. Basic knowledge of at least one cloud platform: Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Good command of English, both written and spoken. Minimum 3 months of relevant commercial, academic or project-based experience. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with an open mindset and willingness to work effectively in diverse, cross-functional teams. Ideally, you'll also have Experience working with modern data engineering technologies and frameworks. Familiarity with data modeling concepts and best practices. Understanding of data visualization and reporting solutions. Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD or version control tools. Participation in university, technology or innovation-related projects. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.

When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one.
